“It’s a $99 hotel in Alaska.”
+Good central location. The bed was comfortable.
−Broken faucet in bathroom. One TV channel. No sound insulation in the walls. Filth splattered on walls in bedroom and bathroom.

“Horrible”
+Nothing
−It was extremely dirty and smelly. The television didn't function (even after several attempts to work it out with the front desk.....finally gave up). The occupants of room above could be heard like they were in the room with us, but the final straw was when I laid in bed and all I could smell was dirty feet/socks coming from the carpet. We checked out immediately (after only being in the room for an hour or so) and luckily found other accommodations.

“You get what you pay for.”
+Similar to other reviews. The Hotel is in an optimal location at a reasonable cost. The hotel's facilities show their age: carpet, plumbing, electrical, smell (odor), etc. All need replacing/ upgrading. If the owners would put some money into this facility, the ratings would easily jump to excellent. I knew what I was paying for ahead of time based on the reviews. I got what I expected. I didn't go for the hotel; I went for the beautiful scenery the Valdez area provides.

“Very outdated hotel.”
+Not far away from the center of town.
−Needs a lot of tlc. Paper-thin walls, all noises herd. Next to a very loud bar.

“Great location. Great Staff. One step up from camping but meet my expections.”
+Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better than expected.
−Walls are paper thin. You felt like you were sleeping in the same room with your neighbors.

+We stayed at the Keystone for one night because we had a glacier cruise the following day. It was essentially our only available option, so we had to book it, despite the price being far from good value for money. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful. There was free parking, and they kindly allowed us to leave our car in the parking area during the day after checking out, which was very convenient. Breakfast was included in the price. It was quite basic, but perfectly adequate. The bathroom was clean, and we appreciated that extra shampoo and conditioner were provided. The sheets and pillows were also clean, and there was carpeting on the floor.
−The property appeared quite run-down and poorly maintained. The building is essentially made up of container-style units, and the soundproofing was extremely poor. We could clearly hear the guest next door snoring, and there was also considerable noise from the ventilation fan, even when the heating was turned off. Pipes were running underneath the ceiling, which made the room feel more like a ship’s cabin than a hotel room. The room itself was very small, with no bedside tables, and the furniture was quite old. The windows had double glazing, but they did not lock. Overall, the biggest issue was the price compared with the quality and condition of the property. In our opinion, the rate was simply not justified by the accommodation provided. For us, this was a place to stay out of necessity rather than choice. It may work as a last-resort option if you need to spend a night in Valdez and there are no better alternatives available, but we would not consider it good value for money.
