+Kariappa House is more than just a place to stay in Pondicherry. It feels like being welcomed into a home where old Tamil architecture, French influences, beautiful courtyards, greenery, art and antiques come together in a way that feels completely natural. What makes Kariappa House special is the thought and care that go into preserving its character and creating a peaceful, conscious way of living. It is personal, unpretentious and full of character. You arrive as a guest, but leave feeling connected to the home, its people and the life around it. A lovely experience for anyone who values heritage, authenticity and a slower pace of travel.
−The approach may not be the most convenient, but once you arrive, you discover a quieter, more authentic side of Pondicherry. It is a place that invites you to slow down, soak in the atmosphere and experience the neighbourhood as it really is, rather than just as a visitor passing through. Since it was a busy & noisy weekend, I was glad that it was much quieter in this area.

“A leafy, laidback home for the weary traveler”
+Lovely heritage home that takes you back in time. The staff is warm and sweet and their dogs Jazzie and Cassie stole our hearts too. While the location was a bit challenging to get to, it was worth the trek. The breakfast was lovely, wholesome, and served with a lot of warmth.
−They could perhaps outline the food booking policy in advance. We arrived hungry in the afternoon and it would have been good to have a small meal or welcome snacks served. Apparently they have to be notified in advance.

“A great little bed and breakfast at Pondicherry”
+The ambience was just as I was expecting to get a traditional feel. The staff especially Ramji was very helpful. He gave a quick tour of the property on arrival.
−The approach roads were a bit tricky. If you had a ground floor room facing the street you will hear the street noises. Maybe thats all part of the ambience. :)

+Traditional architecture, furniture. Great job of restoration. Great cook and food. Nice ambience.
−The approach is single-lane in the congested part of Puducherry

“Fabulous! A real find.”
+Kariappa House is a lush, serene oasis very close to a beach. In particular, I loved my room with its antique furniture and yellow floor. And effective air-conditioning! It was all so tastefully done up! Swimming in the pool in the midst of dense foliage, flanked by dreamy blue curtains was delightful. Dosa, fruit, croissant and coffee for breakfast were delicious. The manager was very accommodating and flexible when it came to check-in and check-out times, and the entire staff cordial and helpful at all times. And I appreciated the free shuttle ride for some shopping in the cute Kariappa autorickshaw. I would love to stay at Kariappa House again, for a week or longer. Thank you.
−Nothing at all!
