“Lovely stay for the money”
+This was a charming place and peaceful place to stay, if you're ok with not having a private bathroom. However, there is a sink in the room. It's two bus stops from the train station, and the bus stops right outside the property, which makes it easy to take the bus up the mountain. Aside from breakfast, there is no food at the property or nearby, but there are food options one bus stop away, and the room has a refrigerator. It was clean and quiet, and the outdoor onsen was lovely.
−I got in at night; it was raining and I hadn't eaten, so I wish there had been at least some snacks and water you could buy at the property.

“Subpar price to quality ratio”
+Beautiful traditional building with good location, nice bedroom and access to onsens
−Despite the positives of this hotel, our feeling walking away is that it is overpriced for the services you get. We had an included breakfast, which the website indicated would include coffee, but when we asked for a cup of coffee the staff indicated that it was 550 yen per cup. When we showed them the information we received, they apologised for the mistake but still didn't agree to providing the coffee without the extra fee. It might seem like a minor point, but for a hotel at this price point, we were quite disappointed. Overall, our stay was okay (we knew the building was old and not very soundproof and that the traditional bed might be a little hard for our habits, so that didn't bother us), but we were left with a disappointed feeling in comparison to the exceptional level of service we have received at other ryokans we stayed in at a (sometimes much) lower price point.

“Beautiful Traditional hotel with lovely staff”
+An absolutely gorgeous old traditional building set between a green forested mountain, a huge roaring river and a busy road. The room was beautiful, the onsen were even better, I was blown away and didn’t leave the hotel for 24hours. The staff were also excellent.
−Very sad to say the busy road. Clearly, these beautiful old buildings were there long before the road got busy. It didn’t stop me from sleeping well. I still highly recommend this hotel. Don’t miss out on the Onsen at the main building which overlooks the forest and river

“Lovely”
+It was a beautiful ryokan. The onsen is beautiful as well. Breakfast was tasty and the staff couldn’t be anymore better. They were all great and so polite.
−No fault of their own as it is a traditional property. But the walls are super thin so you can hear traffic.

“Overall, my stay was relaxing and I would recommend this inn to other solo travelers.”
+I enjoyed the cleanliness and the ambience of the accommodation. The bus stop was right in front of the inn, which made it easy and efficient to go around Hakone by public transportation. I also liked that they provided traditional robes and free amenities for the public bath!
−My only complaint about my stay was the food provided during breakfast, which seemed like food that was frozen and was easily microwaved/heated up. At the time of my stay, it seemed that there was only one employee on the premise and I was one of the only guests checked in, so I understand that there may have been limits to more elaborate meals.

Tattoos waren kein Problem. Sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Die geteilten Waschräume/Toiletten waren immer sehr sauber.
