Where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, the Jenner Inn offers a peaceful escape surrounded by one of the most picturesque landscapes on the Sonoma Coast. Tucked into the small town of Jenner (population 107), the historic inn is the Bay Area's choice for romance and travel on the Sonoma Coast, with nature on full display in a pristine state enjoyed by visitors for over 125 years. The inn is built around quiet comfort, warm hospitality, and the unique character of the village known as "Jenner by the Sea." Its collection of seven cozy, private cottages and hillside rooms gives every guest a sense of space, calm, and connection to nature , from ocean breezes and river views to wildlife sightings and cliffside sunsets. While the property has roots dating back to the early 1900s, today's Jenner Inn blends its charming history with a relaxed, modern coastal feel. The Jenner Inn Café provides breakfast and lunch in a naturally lit, wood-beamed dining room, and Jenner Kayaks lets guests paddle the estuary past Penny Island alongside harbor seals. Hundreds of bird species, harbor seals, river otters, bobcats, deer, eagles, osprey and hawks are everyday visitors.

+Friendly staff and great location. Other than sound from the neighboring unit, no complaints about a clean and comfortable room. The skylight shower is terrific, too.
−Only downside was that sound travels clearly between the units nearby and the pleasant Sand Dollar room where I stayed. A little sound insulation would have been helpful.

“The cold plunge”
+The location is very accessible. It is right across the water access. There is a mini grocery by the gas station and a mini cafe. They do have their own restaurant, which opens at 0800. I arrived at 1630; the reception area was already closed. The check-in time was a little confusing (the website listed 1600-1800, and the email I received listed 1500-1600), but I was given written instructions for room access.
−The time I stayed, there was no hot shower available. I ran it for almost 10 minutes (did not want to waste due to a sign saying to conserve, but had to), but no luck. I opted not to call 911 or the contact number listed in the room instructions because I was dead tired from a six-hour hike, so I just took the cold plunge. I would have enjoyed the skylight above the shower stall if not for the short, cold shower I took. A shelf needs adjusting, as it was wobbly and had seen cobwebs in some corners.

“Goat Rock Beach Retreat”
+Clean & comfortable room, host left me a note on the office door for everything I would need. Perfect location to retire after a day at Goat Rock Beach.
−Its a little out of the way, if you are visiting Bodega Bay.
