+Everything was very clean and location is very close to everything. Staff were friendly and professional.
−The only thing we didn’t like was the size of the room and the beds. We wanted 2 separate beds and got one double. Not enough space for luggage and personal items. It would be nice to have coffee in the room.

“Luciano and Anna made the stay perfect and we shall gladly return there whenever in Madrid. Location is the best ever! T”
+Location!!!! Luciano and Anna were super hosts and went out of their way to accommodate us with all our needs! I asked for hot water and Luciano organised a kettle, we mentioned it was a little cold and suddenly nice warm and clean blankets were on the beds. Room was cleaned every day and toiletries refilled. It was quiet and just PERFECT!!!!
−Nothing!!!

+We had a very good stay at Hostal Macarena. The hotel was clean and felt safe, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room also had a nice little balcony that allowed us to step outside for some fresh air. The hotel is basic, but the location is very convenient, right near Plaza Mayor and within easy walking distance of many of Madrid’s main attractions, restaurants, and shops. We were able to explore much of the city on foot. We would stay here again.
−The soundproofing between rooms is not the greatest, but overall was okay.

“Great location - but some disappointment with service”
+Great location
−Room initially given very disappointing - looked nothing like photos on booking.com - small, facing dirty internal courtyard and dingy. Complained to reception and was told no other rooms available, but strangely after some time they suddenly did have another room. Disappointing, as hotel quite basic and expensive for what it is and a negative start to the holiday. None of staff were particularly welcoming or friendly throughout stay unfortunately.

“Perfect location, charming old fashioned character.”
+Location is spectacular. Building is very charming. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
−Beds and pillows were not the best but were passable. Bathroom wall needs a bit of work. Our triple was cramped but it was ok since we are family.
