“Exceptional”
+Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but that adds to the charm. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable and have everything you need. The real reason to stay here is the elderly lady who runs the place. Very welcoming despite the language barrier (google translate is a great help) and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. The free private onsen and complentary simple breakfast is a bonus too. If you want genuine Japanese hospitality away from the chain hotels this is the place. Ps, get the izakaya tip from the elderly lady which is about 10 min walk away. Great food and drink at a reasonable price in a traditional Japanese boozer.

“Lovely helpful manager and a spacious comfortable room with views”
+Nice and spacious room with views of Sakurajima, a little bit dated but very comfortable and clean and the lady managing the hotel is extremely helpful and nice providing 5 star customer service. Conversation via translator app but that works fine.

“No frills, nice, friendly”
+The owner and her staff made everything possible to make my stay nice and easy. The onsen was nice with naturally heated water, which is getting rare. Simple stay, but nice and friendly.

“Nice views over Karasujima - a lovely stay!”
+I really enjoyed my stay at Hoshi no Sato and the lady that runs the hotel is very sweet and does a great job. The room I had was wonderful with a nice view over the volcano Karasujima. The private onsen was amazing too and I loved using that! All in all, a nice hotel and I would recommend to others!
−The internet was a little hit and miss, but generally okay.

“Best host”
+This was one of the greatest host we experienced in Japan she and her son really did everything to make us feel at home and taken care of us, even driving us to restaurants to eat dinner every night as the hotel is a 1 kilometre walk on dark road to the restaurants era Thank you very much for a wonderful stay
