“Disappointing”
+Nice little garden in the front
−1) I booked 2x rooms and we were pushed into 1x room 2) We only had 2x towels between the 4 of us 3) It was extremely hot in the room. Hotter than outside and outside was 38 degrees. 4) 1x fan did not cool the room 5) We asked for pet friendly. The room wasn't separate from the other units or the gate opening and closing throughout the stay. We had to keep our dogs on leashes as some of the other dogs weren't socialised and people left the gate open 6) We couldn't even keep the sliding door open as there were no security door to keep the dogs in, which also resulted in the room overheating.

“Shitty establishment, ran by racial who are envious of educated middle class blacks.”
+The guest house manager was so rude. They hate black people, yet on the same token they want to accept their money. Management harassed us so much via watsup wanting the time we will check in and how many people. I told repeatedly that it is two people or one. I wouldn’t recommend this guesthouse to anyone. Rather consider Bethulie Manor.
−Management was rude and bloody racist.

“I will definitely stay at Hillside again.”
+The guesthouse is in a beautiful location. A typical small Karoo town. Quiet and safe. The garden is well maintained and lovely - even for a dry winter season. We could see that a lot of care is going into the garden. We appreciated the preparation made to have electricity even if there is a black out and load shedding. The linen was fresh and clean and the white towels spotless. There are restaurants within walking distance from the flat. There is enough safe parking inside the property. It was so lovely to sit in the early morning spring air and sip coffee and hear the birds.
−The flat is lovely inside although very old. The facilities all worked - this was a lovely surprise seeing that they are old and a bit rusty. The shower and bath are one unit and the fixed shower head does not always spray evenly when there is low water pressure.

“Not too bad but could have been better for the price”
+No breakfast and location was great. Bethulie deserves a visit for its rich history
−Basic service, not enough towels not enough cups, very basic coffee for that price, however Lente did make an effort to resolve our requests. We were 5 pax and only had Towels and cups for 3. Otherwise clean and acceptable as an overnight but overpriced.
