6.0“Not a good area”
+We have travelled to SXM for many years & know most of the good & safe places to stay at. This area in Marigot is on a main road out of town & I think this area is not safe. There is no beach. Think & check all the areas before you book.

4.0“An effort is needed”
+We arrived late to this hotel for one night. We knew that it was a cheap hotel for one night but still no internet, AC not working well, not even a bottle of water in the room... An effort is clearly needed to be at the minimum standard of an hotel.

4.0“Bare bones at best”
+We needed a place to stay because our flight came in too late to get to Anguilla. As is common, there was no staff when we arrived about 9:30 p.m. By email we had been provided a code to get in and our room number. The key was waiting for us at the desk. I am accustomed to European hotels that have only a very small elevator but this had none. It was inconvenient to get our suitcases to the 2nd floor - remember that the lobby is "zero" so 2nd is really 3rd. Our room was tiny and hot. There was no way the air conditioner could ever catch up with the accumulated heat and humidity so it was a miserable night. There was no in-room safe as promised. There was a small refrigerator but no bottled water available and the sign in the bathroom said the tap water was not potable. The vending machine only took Euros so we had to way to get water - ugh! The bedside light did not work. The bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom had only two bath towels - no hand towels. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was adequate; it cost 10 Euros for a simple European breakfast but the "fruit salad" was fruit cocktail out of a can and the coffee was weak. This place served our needs which was an inexpens

2.0“Please stay away”
+I was desperate for a place to stay so I booked this hotel last minute. Please do yourself a favour and STAY AWAY. My belongings were stolen from the hotel when I went out for the night. I came back to see my room ransacked and my bags searched and my laptop bag and cash gone. When I complained, I got the run around. No investigations no assistance of any sort. The worst experience I've ever had in my life. PLEASE find another hotel. There's more to the story but it's even worse than I've written. Please, please stay AWAY!

4.0“Hostel, not a hotel”
+First off, should say that the price I paid for this hotel was very reasonable and it did the job, but the pictures posted on their site are not all that current or accurate. Pool was not in good shape. Rooms are very old. Staff were very friendly and that is one reason I do not think it should not be considered if you just need an average bed for a night. The area of town is actually in Bellville, so a 15 min walk to Marigot. Having no front desk staff on call from 8pm can put some people off, but they gave me an email with the code to get in to the hotel, so all good in that respect.

2.0“Had a reservation for 7 nights, left after 1”
+Was supposed to stay for 7 nights but left after 1. The reason ? Staff (owner ?) was really rude and hardly spoke any English at all. They would also charge you €4,50 per night for wifi. Unheard of 2015. And the view from the balconys was terrible (check my photo)

2.0“Hotel Lobby was locked”
+After landing in Saint Martin, we made an online reservation which was accepted, paid a taxi driver 50 dollars to get to the Golfe Hotel, and no one was even in the lobby to check us in. The hotel door was locked, it was completely dark and no one answered the phone number on the door. It was shabby looking and in a bad area, far from the airport and now they are trying to charge me a cancellation fee. Stay someplace else!!!

8.0“Home away from Home”
+We stopped for three days at Hotel du Golfe in Marigot on St. Martin. Owner Sophie Pollin made us very welcome beside the lovely pool. Our room was modest and clean. The hotel was close enough to the big market and to dozens of restaurants in town that we could walk. For great culture on a budget, this place was perfect for us.

6.0“Just OK - Surrounding area not great”
+It was a short stay - 9pm flight arrival, one night stay and mid-am checkout (don't forget to verify correct local time). Island resident dropped off & picked up and suggested that I not wander away from Hotel or walk to Marigot town harbor which was my original plan. He felt I would be a potential tourist target.......I took his advice. For one night, where sleep was my main goal - it was fine. Not fancy but relatively clean and quiet. It was 59 euro for one night (one person - in Feb). Don't remember room but it was 2nd floor - no real view Not sure why some places try to get ultra fancy ie; bathroom when really high level functional would be better - see photos. For my purposes - kinda a business trip it was fine.
“Ditto Lauren's review”
+Similar to the 1st (and only other) review, my husband and I arrived in St. Martin one day prior our reservations where we were staying for a week. We were looking for an inexpensive room for the night and stumbled upon the Golfe Hotel. It was fine-clean, friendly staff, etc. Seedy area for sure-we walked to a local bar and looking back (while not in "lala"/vacation mode) it was not a safe area to be walking. And yes-the businesses around the hotel all had those rolling gates that they closed @ night. Thankfully we had no problems and went on our way the next morning.
