−⭐ 1‑star review You could end up waiting half‑an‑hour under blazing sun for check‑in, get screamed at and hit with the f‑word by an erratic temporary staff member, have your booking cancelled out‑of‑the‑blue, and be removed by police in the middle of the night. This is my full account of how it unfolded. What began as a messy check‑in escalated into outrageous mistreatment by the hostel management. When I arrived, reception was unattended. I waited for half an hour under direct sun until an elderly temporary worker showed up to handle check‑in. He mentioned he was on‑site to repair the roof and spoke in confused, illogical sentences. He relied on constant guidance from the owner over an iPad just to complete basic check‑in steps. The hostel operates a cash‑only policy, which I had not been warned about in advance. I had just paid cash for a tour scheduled the following day and did not carry enough remaining cash to cover my accommodation fee. The owner began discussing possible payment alternatives with the temp via the iPad. “No atmosphere. No staff.”
+It’s close to the ADO bus station.
−I was lucky to meet someone who checked me in but they even had to check my booking with someone on the phone, like they are just the babysitter.After that, I didn’t see any staff at all. The toilet in the dorm and next to the kitchen had no toilet paper. I didn’t see anyone come to clean. The toilet and shower room in my dorm are really unpleasant; the same for the additional shower and toilet next to the kitchen. They don’t appear to have any extractor fans so just concrete boxes, like the dorms. The dorms smell damp and humid and the bathrooms smell of ammonia. Only 3 guests while I was there, and while there’s nothing that can be done about guests, 2 were male and just horrid. One male walked from the dorm to the common area, to the rooftop on a call on his laptop; clearly wanting to express what a big boy he was for having a job and an ‘important’ call. I swear it felt like he followed me around the hostel every time I moved to another place to avoid his loud voice 😅 Another male just sat and watched reels on his phone for hours on end without using headphones, and then took a massive shit and didn’t flush it afterwards. +It was a lovely building, very quiet. The room was good, but not super clean.
−The floor gave us dirty feet often and the tap in the bathroom had little bits of dirt coming out of it every now and then. The water was turned off twice turning our stay.. not sure if this was on purpose or not but it meant we had to wait to be able to do things like brush or teeth or even flush the toilet. There was never any staff there

+The hostel is very good and well equipped.
−The atmosphere is too quiet and a bit oppressive. You have to be careful not to make any noise the whole time. Personally, I never managed to relax and feel like on vacation, but more like in a hospital base.

“Good place to stay in Tulum!”
+It is a quiet hostel with a lot of potential. It was really clean and the beds were amazing! The staff was also really friendly! There were lockers for free of charge!
−However, there was no one at the reception. I could only contact the receptionist via WhatsApp. That was a shame. But overall it was amazing staying there!

−This is the most terrible experience I had in my whole life. Usually I don't write negative comments, but for this one I feel it's my duty to record what actually happaned: you could end up waiting half‑an‑hour under blazing sun for check‑in, get screamed at and hit with the f‑word by an erratic temporary staff member, have your booking cancelled by the owner to avoid bad comments (luckily I still can write), then attacked by malicious lies and twisted accusation when doing nothing wrong, yet being painted as the rude one, and be removed by police in the middle of the night. This hostel may maintain decent‑looking ratings under ordinary circumstances, but when things go wrong they have 0 respect to guests and can do terrible things. No matter what they might keep on lying in the reply to this comment, God knows every single word I said is true.
