“Overnight stay in the Willows.”
+Location was excellent. We were attending the Matlock Illuminations and we were located close by which was great.
−On arrival, our room (Mouse Room, located in the Willows) was lovely. The decor was great and it was spacious. However, upon opening the door to the ensuite, the most horrific smell consumed the room. It was raw sewage! I called reception (twice) who sent someone from the maintenance team. He advised that the park had been fully booked and we were the end of the line for sewage. However he assured us that running the water for a while and closing the plug would resolve the issue. We took the advice and went to attend the illuminations. However, returning to the room the smell was still just as bad. I couldn't stand the smell and did not want my 2 year old sleeping in the room with that smell. I called reception again to advise and luckily they found another room (a bit smaller) but no smell. Unfortunately there was no room for the cot in this particular room so we had a very restless night to say the least with a toddler in the main bed. On top of this, neither room had any soap or shower gel. The bed sheets had hair in them, which certainly weren't ours as different colour, made me question why there is a 6 hour turn around time between checking out and the next guests checking in

“1st time we've been disappointed”
+Location . Comfortable bed Nicely decorated
−We are very regular residents here and have stayed in all the rooms up the top. Princess pirate wizard, etc multiple times. We booked this "family room" in the willows, thinking it would be more luxurious, spacious comfortable etc. No it wasn't the room was extremely small . Bathroom cupboard was extremely small. The single quilt was stained with a cover that didn't even fit on the quilt. Tv was unwatchable as was continuously glitching. No fridge no microwave. The tea tray had enough milk for 1 drink . We were very disappointed to say the least. However, this has been the one and only time we have had a bad experience. As said before, we have stayed here at least 30 times previously and has always been great. I will book again just not this room

“Great location but smelly room and unclean”
+All the staff are amazing, they are so friendly and helpful. The property is in a great location. It is only a short walk to the shops but it is very hilly so wouldn’t suit someone who isn’t good on their feet or with breathing problems.
−The room we had was not as the ones described in the picture. Our room really smelt of sewage and although we asked to move the second room also smelt. The rooms are not very clean, the carpets need replacing and we didn’t feel comfortable walking around with no socks on. The bathroom is tiny and the sink is located on the top of toilet which felt disgusting to stand over a toilet to brush your teeth.

“My child was impressed with the decor of the princess room but as an adult it needed updating.”
−Everywhere needed a good scrub. Poor quality decor, curtains needed washing, dust on the walls & skirting. It was ok for a night but other options have better value for money & provide a cleaner environment. It’d be ideal if you’re using the theme park with younger children in tow. The evening entertainment worked hard but the venue would benefit from a good clean. New seating & layout would make this feel more comfortable provide a useable space.

“Nice view there ,staff helpful , but overall quite disappointing”
+Balcony view amazing, hotel staff very helpful
−Location-too many hills/slopes very tiring getting anywhere, cafe onsight food quality was very poor, wet bed and wet patch on floor in bedroom on arrival ,kids bedroom mould on one the the bed sheets, bathroom sink kept blocking slow drainage ,also smelt damp in there throughout our stay,Gulliver's kingdom also was disappointing no good for children under 9years old ,they were baby rides and hills and slopes getting anywhere on site we're horrendous alot of people standing around trying to catch there breaths and rest every few steps because the hills were so steep
