+We had a wonderful time at Evergreen and would have extended our stay if our travel plans had allowed it! It is one of the few authentic places left on the island (I've been traveling to Zanzibar for over a decade), and it's truly a barefoot paradise - quiet, relaxed and laid-back, with genuine friendly staff and owners, cold drinks, great food options (I always appreciate a vegetarian-friendly menu) and just an overall welcoming atmosphere! We are incredibly happy to have found this little gem, tucked away on a white beach with only a few beach vendors passing by in the distance, and far away from the mass tourism on the island! We arrived on a Tuesday so we had the chance to enjoy the Swahili BBQ night on our first evening, a weekly event with great local food and very nice live music. As it was a last-minute booking the only option left was the bungalow, which was a good choice and perfect for our needs, but we also had the chance to have a look at the newly renovated beach front rooms upstairs - and these are even more beautiful, with a breathtaking view of the ocean! Long story short - if you are looking for a chilled, happy place to unwind, enjoy the ocean and the breeze, eat

“Very nice beach property.”
+Very nice beachfront property. Nicely gardened with lots of comfortable places to sit all around. Staff was excellent. Food was very very good. Rooms are nice enough, basic beach bungalow. If you want to hang out and relax at the beach it's perfect.
−Internet was slow. Nothing to do with the hotel but there were frequent long black outs. A Zanzibar thing apparently. About a 10 minute ride into town by taxi.

“Little paradise escape”
+It’s a little paradise in a quiet part of Zanzibar. Very relaxed place with a nice calm beach, several places to enjoy the day, suntan and chill. The food and drinks are excellent too with fantastic selection and great quality. Very fresh and generous!
−Everything was great!

+We had a great stay at Evergreen! The Bungalows were comfortable, food was great, all the small details make this place so special. Couldnt have chosen a better place to end our trip.
−Food was great, nevertheless I would have been happy to have more vegeterian options. Was delicious though and there are worse things than having a curry two days in a row :)
