+This hotel is located in the most unassuming place in Koriyama. It is a high quality accommodation, and provides a Ryokan experience in a quiet town. The Japanese-style room was very spacious, comfortable, and far bigger than required for a solo booking. I thought it was quite fancy and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel also offers overnight car parking for a fee, for those who are travelling by car.

+I didn't know I needed a private bathroom on the balcony, but it was an absolute game changer. The room was also very spacious. I also really appreciated having more than one pillow per person. The location of the hotel was beautiful, the staff were extremely helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious.
−There were lots of stink bugs trying to get into the room. While this wasn't a problem in itself, some of them were already in the outdoor bathroom when we arrived. When I removed them all, new ones barely appeared, which meant that the staff hadn't removed the old ones when we arrived. Also, the quality of the food varied, but that may be more a matter of personal taste than a fault of the kitchen itself. One day, we had the most delicious dinner. The next day, we could barely stomach some of the food.

+The hotel's entry floor and onsen has been refurbished, but the rest was not.
−The room was terrible, small and hot. We stayed in October (outside was 20C) and the aircon was switched to heating only by the hotel, when the temperature in the room was above 25C. Opening the window was not an option because of bugs, train passing by right under our window and the road just next to the train tracks. Needless to say it was a hot night. The rooms are dated, with visible damage and seems like no refurbishment for a few decades. The bathroom was very small, even my teenagers had difficulty to shower. Staff was kind, but NOT ONE person spoke ANY English. I understand this is Japan, but a big hotel like this you would expect to have at least one person speak a little foreign language. The onsen area was relatively new, but very small and indoor only. The water was chlorine treated so it's not a special kind of onsen from hot spring. We stayed over a holiday, so the price for this marvel was excruciatingly high.

Dommage.
