“If you love historic buildings, a great place to stay”
+A beautiful period room with, in general, a high level of comfort.
−The bathroom fan continued operating long after the bathroom light had been switched off which distrubed sleep to some extent.

“Beautiful stunning quiet place, well worth a stay”
+Incredible location, really beautiful
−We arrived after hours & the staff were great in putting the key in a lockbox. We found that relatively easily, but we struggled to then find the door to the accommodation. Clearer instructions would be helpful

“A lovely location and an impressive estate. Accommodation very basic. Not very welcoming.”
+Wonderful location and rural setting. The ambience of the 'White Hart' onsite dining was a lovely experience. Nice cafés and coffee places onsite.
−Lack of information on arrival - It wasn't very clear on where to go to park or check-in as guests. We weren't the only guests having this problem. I saw a couple of other arrivals parking up their cars on the double yellow lines and wandering around to try and find out where to go. Having slightly impaired mobility it was difficult to negotiate our heavy cases from the car to our room. On arrival, we were 'greeted' by a member of staff who seemed to take pleasure in telling us off for temporarily parking too close to the entrance to the courtyard where our rooms were located whilst we unloaded. We pointed out that her colleague had instructed us to park there to unload but she unapologetically replied that her colleague hadn't been working there very long (this wasn't a very warm welcome start top our holiday). There were lots of rules and regulations, many of which seemed slightly ridiculous; such as not being allowed to walk on the grass (which was dead anyway), which, perhaps rather cruelly, resulted in us dubbing the estate 'Colditz'. The room was very basic and the double bed was actually two single beds pushed together resulting in a chasmic divide over the course of the nig

“Location, location and the bagel cafe!!”
+I really appreciated the welcome centre where you were given your key and maps of the estate upon arrival. A lovely personal touch.

“Dartington Escape”
+Hall, buildings, gardens & estate, tour. The staff are very helpful at the reception shop, the hall guide is very knowledgeable and informative. The various catering staff are friendly and efficient. Generally the estate is very well maintained but rooms require some updating and the windows need a clean.
−The allocated room did not have wifi, no phone signal, the TV did not work, the bedcover was stained, and the furniture was of poor quality. The window needed a wash. However, the room was changed on request.
