9.0+The riad is truly beautiful, with our room overlooking the main interior garden. Despite being located in the heart of the medina, the moment you walk through the narrow streets and enter the riad, it feels like a peaceful rural retreat, completely free from noise and full of tranquility. The staff were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. Having breakfast at the riad is an absolute must. It offers excellent value for money, with a generous selection of breads, drinks, and local specialties, all served in the peaceful garden setting. The room was comfortable, cozy, and impeccably maintained. It was cleaned daily, and we found everything to be in perfect order throughout our stay.
−Due to the impact of the recent earthquakes, some of the doors and windows could not be fully closed. In our case, this was not an issue, as the weather was mild during our stay, but it could be more noticeable for guests visiting in the winter months. That said, this is also part of the charm of staying in a traditional riad. These historic properties offer a unique and authentic experience that you simply would not find in a modern hotel chain. If you are looking for character, atmosphere, and a genuine connection to the medina, the riad delivers exactly that.

9.0“As an introduction to Marrakech we couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay. Especially the wonderful Essaaida an”
+An enchanting riad deep in the Medina, El Kharaz is an oasis of peace and calm. Essaaida and Boujmaa are the most wonderful hosts! They gave us excellent directions right to the door and made us feel so very welcome with mint tea on our arrival and a superb breakfast! An absolutely wonderful stay.
−Nothing not to like.

1.0“Just don’t. It’s not worth the money.”
+The breakfast was good.
−If I could give this riad 0 stars, I would. The riad is down a back alley with no signage. They tell you to follow signs for le bain bleu, but that doesn’t take you to where the riad is. If you’re lucky to find the entrance, the “sign” for the riad is written “kharez” sloppily on a wall in paint. To make matters worse, I received a “welcome” text from the owner telling me there would be a 20€ charge for late arrivals. This is not mentioned anywhere on their booking.com page and that was admitted to me by the owner. My flight got in late and had I known that there would be a charge I would have booked somewhere else. While at the riad, I wanted to ask the woman working there two questions: if we could do breakfast and if I could stay an hour past check out on the day I left. I called for her from the ground floor of the riad and she was nowhere to be found after breakfast was served. The next day, when I was supposed to check out, I FINALLY saw her during breakfast. I asked her if I could check out at twelve and she agreed. I went back to my room to rest and shower, and at 11:20 I hear her yelling at me through the door to check out while I’m in the shower. I explain that I asked he

9.0“A charming little riad in the middle of the medina, a haven of peace in the midst of the bustle.”
+Lovely breakfast with freshly cooked eggs and pancakes, delivered to the table on the balcony just outside our door. Staff were so helpful arranging a tuk tuk transfer to our second riad. Also very good arrangements to pick us up from the taxi on arrival.
−The bed was a little hard and the woollen blankets a little uncomfortable as someone used to a duvet, but we slept well nevertheless!
