“Disappointing, not as expected.”
+The staircase is impressive and the carpark is free.
−Our room was in the attic, an upgrade apparently? Very poor fittings and fixtures, a shabby dingy dark room. The TV is non smart, so old the controller buttons have actually rubbed off. There is a metal garden chair in the room, it is too high to use, as it doesn't fit under the dressing table. The bath tub chrome plastic tap covering is only balanced on. The curtains on a sloping ceiling obviously do not work. The furniture is all unfinished stripped brown furniture, it is marked and stained. The walls are scuffed and marked. No long mirror, no proper hanging space. No help with suitcases or offer to help, all the way up to the top floor. We requested alternative milk for the room as my daughter is lactose intolerant, that was ignored as well.

“Lovely hotel, would stay again”
+Four poster room, really nice. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Heating was on at night, which was good, as an old building. Breakfast was great. Staff friendly. Recommended!
−Nothing I didn't like but a few finishing touches would be nice with the decor around the hotel, but all in all a very nice place to stay!

“An elegant and eloquent hotel ideally situated for a short stay”
+Rooms done up to a very high standard and very clean. We enjoyed drinks at the bar which again is decorated beautifully and there were other people in there which was nice. The location was perfect for us as walkable to the town and only 4 minutes drive to our daughter's Uni accomodation. No dinner but a short Uber ride into the town for many choices, which we did, nice to have drinks at the hotel bar before and after as it open until late.
−Understaffed. Only one member of (female) staff present to check in and run the bar, in terms of safety and security for her not great. Our shower plug hole was blocked and my husband nearly flooded the bathroom until he noticed. Only the lady present so she took a look when we we at the bar but recompensed us by providing free breakfast and drinks at the bar as no one available to fix the problem. We managed with very quick short showers but not ideal!
