“Bad”
+The location
−the room didn't have curtains, the bathroom that was offered to us didn't have a toilet, stay with the owner in the house, on Friday night he had a party with his friends, it was an unbearable noise!

“Nice location but could be improved”
+Host was polite and friendly. They let us leave our bags in their living room after check out.
−We used the washing machine but it was extremely mouldy inside, my clothes were smelly and I had to wash them again somewhere else. Bathroom was dirty. No curtains meant that there was no privacy for getting changed at night and strong daylight from before 5am. This is really a minimum effort type of place so I wouldn’t come back.

“Budapest shared flat”
+My room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The owner was friendly and helpful, he even bought new bedding especially, because he was concerned I'd be cold. That made a big difference to my comfort. I could use the kitchen to make tea and store food. I had personal use of a separate toilet and bathroom.
−I didn't realise I'd be sharing the flat with the owner. The kitchen was full of personal stuff, as were the drawers and wardrobe in my room. His English is poor and so the description and photos on booking.com are not fully accurate. The arrival instructions are inadequate and totally confusing. He had to leave work to come and let me in. The area is half an hour from the station and not very convenient to easily see the best of Budapest

−I feel a bit mislead. This is not a private apartment but a room with an external bathroom, which is probably used by the owner, too, as it was dirty. Someone else was also using the apartment's other room, the whole place smelled like pho soup (or the like). We checked it out, then turned around and left, didn't even spend the night there.

“Exceptional”
+The accommodation is located in a very good location in the city center. The room is clean, spacious and bright. The bathroom has a large shower, I appreciate the separate toilet. The owner is very kind, willing, helpful. We spent a wonderful time at this place and we felt like at home.
