“Great stay, very affordable”
+Extremely well priced with cheap bike hire. Outside of the town which was great and a 10 min ride in which was awesome. Staff extremely friendly with good English. Right next door to the Hospital cave and close to the National Park.
−Food menu very limited and suitable restaurants near by for variety.

“Amazing, beautiful, affordable honesty with great pool, good food, and more - what’s not to love?”
+Beautiful location. Fantastic pool, we spent hours there. Excellent host who can sort out more or less anything you need - scooter rental, tours, bus transfers, taxis etc. Food and drink also available to order, cheap and amazing taste. I recommend the seafood barbecue for those who love freshly caught seafood - meatiest crabs we’ve ever seen!
−Bathroom was clean but a little smelly with a tap which has seen better days. Not that big of a deal though.

“Pleasant”
+Gecko was a great host and very helpful when we needed it. You have to either rent a moped or get a taxi everywhere from his place. It’s in the middle of nowhere and Grab does not work. It is a very local feel though which was a nice distraction!
−The room we stayed in was definitely a lot more rough than the other bungalows unfortunately. The paint REALLY needed fresh paint like the other bungalows have. The bathroom unfortunately smelled pretty strongly of pee, I think the tiles need a good scrubbing. Be aware there are quite a lot of ants in the room, but I wasn’t bothered considering the location. Also, if you get a taxi from Gecko, I would recommend asking how much it is prior. He set us up with a free taxi to the marina (which was very kind!). He then helped us get a taxi back to his house (without saying how much it would be) and his friend ended up charging us more for a 10 minute ride than what renting a moped for the whole day would have been. I really appreciated his help, but wish this would’ve been more transparent.

+A perfect and peaceful place to unwind for a few days. We loved our afternoons in the pool and exploring Cat Ba. The location is a bit isolated from town so I would recommend bringing or hiring a scooter to get around in. Otherwise there are a few really nice places to eat in the area (including the Homestay!). Gecko the owner and his family are really sweet and lovely. Thanks for everything!

+Such a great Homestay! It is quiet, the rooms are comfortable and the owners are very nice and helpful. Food is great and plenty at the restaurant. It is a really nice experience to live in this small village in the middle of the island, close to the national park and not too far from town. They rent scooters which is a great way to discover the island, since the roads are in very good conditions. Very nice pool. Recommended 100%

+Great family run accommodation close to the national park. Very peaceful. Excellent restaurant on-site. This place is a serene alternative to overbuilt Cat Ba City, and yet just a short ride from the wharf.
