8.0“Communal space hostel I'd recommend for groups! Run by a well-travelled host who gets it.”
+This place is a really cool concept, hammock style beds hanging from the platforms, super unique setup, and it’s clearly well run. I happened to arrive on a night with zero other guests (low season), so Renee upgraded me to a private room, which was awesome. It had proper partition walls with bamboo fronts, still that open air feel but way more privacy, plus my own mosquito net. Only a fan, but it was a comfortable stay for me. Breakfast came included with my booking and Renee made it herself, it was genuinely good, and we got to chat a bit while I ate, which was a nice moment of connection after a quiet night. Between that, the room upgrade, and the price, this was really great value for money. Renee was incredibly helpful overall too, she even dried out my laundry for free after it got soaked in the rain that day, really kind. Location wise, Chocolate Hills is just a 10 minute drive away, so it’s a great home base for exploring that area, quiet and a bit removed from town but still easy to get to.
−The listing makes it sound like a social hostel with nightly family dinners, but since I was the only guest, none of that happened and it ended up feeling pretty lonely rather than social. The facilities were also under renovation when I visited (Oct 2026), so that’s worth knowing going in. The upgrades will be amazing when complete, as Renee pays close attention to detail. The showers are outside the main building, and with no one else around the lights weren’t really on, so walking there in the dark felt a bit unnerving. Also heads up if you’re not a bug person, there were some genuinely massive spiders in the shower, I was fine with it but it would freak some people out. You’ll want a scooter here or be ready to arrange a taxi for every outing, there’s really just a cafe nearby and not much else within walking distance. Honestly, as a solo traveler in low season this didn’t give me the hostel vibe I expected, it felt pretty secluded. I think this place would be amazing with a group, but I probably wouldn’t book it solo again outside of high season (Jan to March).

10.0“Sanctuary”
+This was one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in period. Despite it being the low tourist season, my stay still felt so lively and I felt right at home the whole time. I had such a wonderful stay. From the people, to the sweet animals, to the location, to the food, everything was perfect. No mosquitos, very naturally cool temperatures at night, and Renee is an incredible cook!! If you’re an animal and nature lover this is the perfect spot for you.
−Absolutely nothing

10.0+The Hostel gives such a chill vibe. Everybody eats dinner together - it‘s only 200PHP and trust me - it‘s more than enough and you automatically connect to the other guests. Feels like home.

10.0“The best!!”
+Everything! It’s was absolutely perfect, the beds are comfy and there’s a net so the mosquitoes won’t bite you, the breakfast is perfect and the diner for 200 pesos is so worth it (and it’s made with love). The owners are so kind and will help you with anything. It’s close to the chocolate hills and tarsier sanctuary, I really recommend going to the Alicia Panoramic Parc even if it’s a long drive. Also the showers are really clean and the animals are lovely (especially the two orange cats if you like morning cuddles)
−It’s nothing bad, but just make sure you can drive a scooter because there’s nothing from a walking distance. The homestay propose a motorbike rental for 500 pesos.

10.0“Social, authentic and amazing family dinners!!”
+Loved the nature and the cats and dogs running around everywhere! Location was perfect as you can have the hostel as a base to explore the island! Renee was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also delicious!
−It was a little noisy at night, the dogs and the roosters! But this was expected and kinda turned into white noise after a while!

10.0+bohol hammock hostel is the best hostel we have ever been. it feels like home from the first moment. we rented a motorcycle in the hostel and had the best adventures in this area. every evening there was a big family dinner, with the best food we have eaten in the philippines so far. this hostel is the best place to connect with other backpackers. it‘s so cozy and the rooms are open, so you feel very connected with nature. the rooms and sanitaries were very clean. also the owner is the friendliest person ever. she’s so helpful and has a look on everyone. on our last day we found a little kitten at the waterfalls and the owner said, she could live in the garden with the other homeless animals. she bought some milk for the kitten immidiately to make sure she‘s good. we loved this place and will definitely come back. thank you for this stay <3
