2.0+Staff were drinking and gambling until late hrs for the three nights we were there. Smoking below our room. Not super friendly. Seems like it is the hub for staff friends to come over and party. I’m not particular about cleanliness but the actions of the staff is giving this hostel a poor review for me.

“great stay near Thamel”
+Staff were really helpful and friendly, the hostel had a good vibe, the showers were hot, WiFi was really good, breakfast was nice and cheap, they let us keep our stuff there for free while trekking for 20 days as long as we stayed one night when we come back which we were more than happy too, we stayed 8 nights in total. Highly recommended for young travelers

6.0“Good place.”
+We stayed here a couple of days before to do the EBC track. The place is good for the price, but the outside rooms can be very noisy. We wanted to stay a week but, we left the place before because everyone was so loud outside (manager included).

10.0“Great hostel, would stay again!”
+I stayed a couple of times in this hostel (before and after a trek). I had a choice of rooms both times which was great. The rooms were clean and had comfy beds. It was the staff that made it great, very friendly and helpful, always there for you. And it's in a quiet area with a short walk to the heart of Thamel. Highly recommended!

10.0“best location in town”
+I found the most friendly and helpful staff and owner. Good atmosphere, good breakfast served. In Nepal most of the hostel offer similar facilities. Don't have too much expectation....especially in cleanness. The best I like peaceful location in busy Kathmandu. For sure you will have better sleep than other hostel. Highly recommended and will come next year.

10.0“A Great Place!”
+Ive been coming to Nepal for many years, like more than 30. For the last 20 trips or so Ive stayed at the Beehive Hostel. It was called Family Peace Guest House, and still is, but they added a new wing that is called Beehive Hostel. Im sitting here now. The rooms are nice and clean, the staff is friendly and I store my extra gear here while trekking in the Himalayas. In the Beehive Hostel part of the place there are single/double rooms, as well as a dormitory (Dormitories are getting rarer in Kathmandu, and so if you are on a tight budget, this dormitory is a good choice) The place has an exotic feel to it, like from times past in Kathmandu. The wi-fi is free and works well. They have good food available. It is only a couple minutes walk to the Thamel Tourist area where you can get all the backpacker services you need. I have stayed here like 40 or 50 times. Try it, you will like it!

2.0“Worst hostel we've stayed”
+We have been traveling around Japan, Thailand and Nepal, and this is the worst hostel we have stayed. Personal was so dirty and smelly all the time, hot water didn't work at all, the attitude of the owner was a little moody, the name of the hotel is not "Beehive" but "Family Peace Guest House", making more difficult to find it; there's only one little sign indicating the name "Beehive". The private room only had one smelly towel, when we were two people staying there, besides when we booked trough this site it said breakfast was included with the price, however when we claimed our breakfast, the owner first said that none of the rooms included it, and then he said that only the private room included breakfast but not the dormroom, which is not what the website said. The worst hostel we have stayed.

10.0“Great first experience of a hostel”
+I arrived at the beginning of November on a 6 month travel not really knowing the standard of hostels,I'm used to a decent standard whenever I have stayed somewhere before. I obviously didn't expect much for the price but I got my own room which was big enough for everything I needed. It was clean with a comfy bed. The shower block could do with updating but its cleaned every day just like all the communal areas and is hot. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, they kept our bags for us for two weeks while we went trekking at no cost. They offered great advice on trekking, they could probably sort you're trek out for you cheaper than most. They serve great food here at really good prices, there is also a next day laundry service. There is a courtyard to eat and chill and its a great place to meet up with other residents,I met some great friends here. On the whole I would definetly recommend this hostel as it has so much going for it. Its great value for money.
