+I only needed a one night stay and arrived a bit early. Paolo made arrangement for me to pick the key so I wouldn't be waiting around. I figured out the multiple key system but that wasn't too bad. The location was great, the room felt grand with tall ceiling and pretty balcony like window. Everything was clean.
−I expected the shared bathroom (super clean with a good stock of supplies). Late in the day, the toilet didn't flush so I advised Paolo immediately and he said someone would look at it the next day. He suggested it might take a while for the water to fill up? I posted a sign in English and Italian to alert the others. In the meantime, I filled the plastic lined waste basket with tap water to get the contents to flush. At 4 a.m, it flushed ok but at 6 a.m. it didn't. The other issue I had was the lighting in the building common area. There were motion sensors in the B&B hallway, which was good at night, the outside the B&B, the multi level staircase was dark and not light. I missed a step once and luckily fell UP instead of down. When your arms are full, it's difficult to get your phone flashlight open for extra light.

“Unforgettable stay in a fantastic city.”
+Perfect location, right on the doorstep of the historic city centre. Spotlessly clean, spacious en suite room in a magnificent quirky period property (A front door so huge I had to lean back into the street to haul it closed!) There is no kitchen, just a fridge and kettle - so just go outside, there’s food everywhere! It was our first visit to Catania and our host Paolo kindly offered to collect us from the airport. He gave us a whistle stop tour with tips on what to see and the best places to eat. We spent three busy days immersing ourselves in the local culture. The history, the architecture, the food, the people, it just blew us away. We were chauffeured back by Paolo for our flight this morning. Didn’t want to leave, was the best getaway we’ve had in years. Catania is a city with real character, gritty in part, but never once did we feel unsafe or unwelcome - and Paolo is a star. Great value for money. We will be back.
