“Cheap but poorly managed, unclean and noisy”
+The best thing about the Bat and Ball Hostel is its affordable price. Unfortunately, the overall experience falls short in several important areas. As it stands, I would not recommend it to professionals or anyone hoping to work quietly in the common areas or enjoy uninterrupted sleep at night.
−I was left confused on arrival due to a lack of clear check-in information and/or on-site assistance, and witnessed several other guests experiencing the same problem during my stay. The hostel appears to rely on young volunteers, with the atmosphere often prioritising socialising and partying over guest support and basic upkeep. Noise late into the night is an issue. Long-term guests tend to dominate shared rooms, taking up much of the floor space with their belongings and imposing established routines including loud music on others in the common spaces, which can leave newcomers feel like they are intruding in someone's private space. The premises also desperately need a deep clean, with visible grime and apparent mould (see pictures). With better cleanliness, organisation, noise management and responsible oversight, this hostel could offer much better value.

+Staff and hostel room mates were really really friendly. Everyone was easy to chat to.
−Generally could do with a clean or more reminders to hostel users to clean after themselves

“Great location for Hordern pavilion.”
+Location was perfect for my concert at the Hordern pavilion. Lovely staff. Clean and friendly.
−I wasn't sure where to enter as the hotel was closed. Found the key pad so figured that was it.

“So traveler from Fiji”
+Was easy to locate and place was clean with shared facilities and they had a rooftop area to work or chill in. The self check in was seamless and the volunteers were helpful.
−Ventilation in Room 8 was poor. Only one window and a ceiling fan. Got stuffy real quick with 4 adults in the room. Not so sure about the other rooms.
