+The breakfast was adequate and the one dinner we had there was excellent. The staff were all really nice and helpful
−the room was rather dated, the floor wasn't swept and we were down to the last toilet roll the day we left

+The atmosphere and cleanliness of the hotel was very good. Breakfast was good with a decent choice. Staff were friendly and efficient.
−We would prefer to have had a room with a view, this is the second time staying there through booking.com and wonder if this dictates which room you get.

“Very comfortable hotel with great food”
+Comfortable hotel, nice room, friendly staff and excellent food
−The pillows were a little too firm. The taps in the ensuite only produced a trickle of water. On our second morning there were no croissants or orange juice left. We had a 9.15 reservation do it wasn’t late

“The staff is kind but the hotel is expensive, old and not comfortable. Needs urgent renovation.”
+The Hotel is in a nice position in the center of Ballater
−Room very small, very little hot water and it was not possible to have a proper shower, everything old and obsolete, very old windows. My friends had freezing cold rooms. Not to be repeated. Bad value for money.

“Lovely hotel, very nice experience with very clean rooms.”
+We had a great breakfast 2 mornings in a row. Dinner was also of high quality. The room was exceptionally clean.
−They were suffering from staff being off ill, so service was a bit slow in the restaurant but they were very apologetic. Fiona in particular was working very hard to make up for the staff shortage.
