+I can't say enough good about our stay! The incredible friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the amazing meals, the beautiful room and views are just a start. This was an excellent facility for a first time ryokan stay, as they explained exactly what to do at every step.
−The facility is somewhat outdated, but that didn't bother us at all; we found it charmingly retro.

“Very disappointing, old accomodation in desperate need of renovation.”
+The check-in staff were very friendly and whilst not to our tastes, we could appreciate that the set Japanese meal was a very authentic and thorough experience.
−A very poor experience which gave my wife and I no option but to leave the hotel early and source other accommodation arrangements due to the horrible smell of old/damp in the hotel corridors and room, the beds which were like sleeping on wooden planks, the cleanliness and overall feel of the room and the very strange hotel staff communication that ask questions like "what time you are leaving the property", "when you will be back" and having to hand your keys in to reception every time you leave. This experience is made worse by the fact that the hotel charge a very large amount of money, even when comparing their western room offering to 5* hotels in Tokyo/Kyoto. Overall a very disappointing experience. We got in touch with booking.com who were our travel provider and they mentioned that the hotel were not willing to offer us any compensation for having to check out early and source other arrangements. I'd would not stay here and encourage others to look elsewhere.

“Nice and clean room. Good hot spring, delicious food.”
+The weather this time was not good. However we felt warm from having shuttle bus by assistance of tourists center at Hakone station, and also warm welcome to room and great dinner felt honor and also the seasonal cocktail for my husband’s birthday. We surely come and stay again for next good weather trip. Thank you.

+We stay tonight at the hotel. Room is very cold with private hot spring open air within the room keeping a consistency temperature of 42 degree.
−Personally, I think I prefer the food set of grill fish with rice and some soup for breakfast. It’s compact and fast for the breakfast that we need to finish fast comparing to comparing to kind of dim sum. My personality opinion, actually.

“Very enjoyable and all staff members were exceptional”
+Staff were exceptional. Very attentive, very polite.
−I didn’t enjoy some of the food and would have preferred a choice of options. Portions were way too large particularly the traditional breakfast. Lots of waste.
