10.0+This place was wonderful! The staff were extremely welcoming with smiles and lemonade as we arrived. It was super convenient as they had water and drinks and a set menu made there. The property was extremely tidy, the garden was beautifully maintained and the bungalow was the cutest thing ever. Very clean and just a few metres off the rolling waves, it had a very coastal and relaxing vibe to it. Lastly being so close to the school gives an added bonus.. an insight into the locals routines, like when it's evening, you can observe as they spend time by the water collecting muscles and fishing and giving lots of friendly waves.

9.0+Simple accommodation, no frills but right on the beach, electricity and hot showers (at certain times). There were options for food (fish curry and veggie stir fry) which were delicious and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was included.

9.0“Stayed here with a friend for 3 nights. John and his wife Veronique were wonderful hosts. We visited Veronique’s villag”
+Great location by the beach. I appreciated John’s help with booking our volcano tour and blue cave tour.
−If you have dietary needs/allergies/intolerances it might be difficult for you- do bring your own food.

2.0“Lovely surroundings, lovely staff; severe underinvestment by the owner”
+The staff of the Alofa Beach Bungalows were wonderful. Friendly and helpful but limited in what they could provide. The food was well cooked and tasty but the options were extremely limited and the bar offered only local beer and soda. The gardens were fantastic and the beach lovely although swimming was limited.
−The owner needs to really invest in the infra-structure. We had rented 3 bungalows. The roof of one was disintegrating and so covered with a sheet of tarpaulin. The electricity did not work in another. The showers in all three were cold. The mosquito nets were stained and full of holes and they were not provided for all the beds. The plumbing leaked in one of the bungalows. It was chilly at night and the extra blankets provided were damp, as was some of the normal bedding in one of the bungalows. There was only one driver available to take guests sight-seeing so if he was booked for one set of guests, the others did not get out.

4.0−I don’t recommend this accommodation. The towel given to me was dirty, there was a cockroach in the toilet, there was no water in the tap/shower in the morning, the shower was cold and they didn’t arrive for breakfast at the scheduled time. It’s better to do more research and pay more for a proper place.

9.0“Charming bungalow on the beach.”
+Uninterrupted views to the beach, hosts Veronik and John were so welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. Charming, island life experience, simple and a place to watch incredible sunsets. Fresh coffee brewed in the mornings. Little convenience stores dotted along the main road, or a quick bus ride into Lenakel for something slightly more substantial. Let the ocean waves carry your worries away.
−Hot water system for the shower was… hot hot!! But a luxury to have.

7.0+Family run bungalow accommodation. Lovely staff who are more than happy to assist with booking tours at competitive pricing. If you like getting a feel of island life and it's people, this is for you. We love Tanna and the culture.

8.0“A beautiful location with stunning views, friendly staff and helpful tour arrangements that made my stay enjoyable.”
+The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location has an absolutely beautiful view, and the surroundings are truly stunning. I also appreciated their help in organising tours for me during my stay.
−I was a little disappointed to find out that Linda, the owner, actually lives in Port Vila and is not present at the accommodation, as I had expected this based on our previous communication. I would have appreciated knowing this in advance.
