5.0+Overall, I had a comfortable stay and was happy with everything except the noise. Sounds from the corridors could be heard very clearly in the room, which I found quite disturbing. Better soundproofing would really improve the experience.

5.0“You Get What You Pay For: Clean, Central, and a Little Quirky 😊”
+At Acostar Hotel, you get a bed, a bathroom, and a clean room. You also get a fantastic location, right in the city centre and close to the famous Nine Streets area.
−We booked two rooms. Our room was perfectly fine: clean, tidy, and with a newly renovated bathroom. I really have no complaints about it. The only downside was a strong smell of marijuana, which was quite noticeable and at times rather unpleasant. Our teenagers, however, were given a twin room that was frankly below acceptable standards, especially considering that we paid the same price for both rooms. Their room felt more like a storage room with two beds squeezed into it. The beds were poor, almost as if they were temporary rollaway beds rather than proper hotel beds. It even felt as though the room might originally have been a single room with an extra bed hastily added. It was genuinely disappointing. The windows were in poor condition, the paint was peeling, and noise from the bars and restaurants at street level made it difficult to fully relax.

5.0“Central location, expensive for what it is”
+Location very central near Leidseplein, private bathroom in the room.
−Noisy from the bars downstairs if you face the street, no elevator, room tiny and no space to place luggage open on the floor. Too expensive just because location in Amsterdam centrum.

7.0“Good value, be sure to book a room in the rear.”
+The hotel is located in an advantageous part of Amsterdam City Centre, allowing a short walk of about 15 mins to reach the Rijks and Van Gogh museums. We enjoyed walks along the canals and visiting the shops, as well as many nearby restaurants. Hotel room was very clean and ensuite bathroom clean and modern. Staff friendly.
−I failed to note on the Booking.com description that the hotel mentioned there might be noise disturbances. We had a four-night stay, and during our first two nights, we did not notice any noise. But on our remaining nights, it turns out that there is a dance club right across the street. The loud, pounding music lasted from 11pm until 4:30am. Bars are open Thurs thru Sat, so this was the evident result. In addition, many drunken clubgoers were out in the street, whooping it up; yelling, laughing and loud conversation, and singing. Because our room was one of few located at the front of the hotel (the twin rooms are all located at the front), we were completely unable to avoid the noise and could not sleep. Our recommendation, for anyone staying here, is to schedule a room at the rear of the hotel. This faces a garden area with trees... the street noise cannot be heard, as near as we can determine. Had I known about the noise in advance, we would have chosen a rear room. Also, the twin rooms, at least, are quite small... barely enough room to move around.

3.0+Location was great. Very easy to get to and from for everything
−Our room had a toilet that was leaking and it smelled like a septic tank the whole 3 nights. We reported it, they knew about it already but still allowed us to stay in in with no discount, no offer to move rooms... nothing. It wasn't fixed, or attended to apart from bathmats to soak it up. It smelled so bad it was not ok.

2.0“I would have chosen another hotel”
+Citycenter. Staff was ok, one of them has helped with a locker, when it got stuck. The drain in the shower was working, that is good for the old building.
−Location in front of the Club. Every day during our stay there since app.21:00 till app.5:30 there was so laud (maybe because of Akustik in old block), that I couldn’t sleep at all and even earplugs didn’t help me. There were a lot of men outside (some in strappy underwear for BDSM only), who was making a lot of noise the whole night till early morning at the entrance to the club. The window did not close, but just for a ventilation. There were damaged items in the room. It was also dirty there. For instance the only working lamp in the room and fan were covered in a thick layer of dust. Or the towel, that was covered in stains that couldn't been washed off. There was also no working ventilation either in bathroom or in the room. It was hard to pack belongings because of the darkness (luck of the light in the room). The hotel was fully booked, so it was not possible to change the room.

5.0+Dejlig central beliggenhed.
