“Great value, friendly owners, and perfectly practical for skiing”
+If you arrive expecting luxury, you may be disappointed , but if you’re looking for clean, warm, practical accommodation at a very reasonable price, this place does exactly what it promises. My room was simple but very comfortable: spotless, warm, with a good shower and plenty of hot water. There’s also a decent-sized fridge, which is really useful for keeping a few essentials. The location works well for skiing too , it’s right on the main bus route and just one stop up to the main resort area, which makes getting around very easy. Yes, there’s a bar attached so it may be a little lively during peak season, and the towels are on the small side (which honestly seems fairly typical in Japan), but you can request extras if needed. What really makes the place stand out is the kindness of the owners. They were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout my stay and even arranged for my luggage to be sent on after I left, which I greatly appreciated. And a final note: the burgers in the bar are excellent , definitely worth trying after a day on the slopes. Overall, a very solid and welcoming base for skiing in Appi.
−Bed was a little on the hard side for my taste. But that is more a matter of personal preference.

“My stay was all about snow boarding, so a comfortable place”
+Location in relation to Appi kogen ski field. Near shuttle bus that runs 1/2hrly(7min to ski resort). Bar/burger bar in house. Good tap beers. Easy to get to via Shinkansen to Morioka (2hrs) then bus (1hr). Be prepared Appi is a quiet place. 19brew good bar and ollies nearby. I travelled alone. Staff were friendly and were engaging even when off site. Btw. Lawson a handy short shuttle ride. If you’re quick you be on a return shuttle in 7min but the next in 1/2hr.
−Couldn’t get the heater to work. Remote was missing. In fairness I didn’t need it and didn’t pursue it with staff. No laundry facilities however one across the road and House Appi

“Good choice when you need a place to stay for some reasons in this area”
+The owner is a friendly and nice gentleman! Thank you! The bar adjacent to the hotel, check-in and check-out without waiting and procedures. Very relieving for people who don't like formalities. Nice trees right next to the window.
−They might have provided simple breakfast. No hairdryer in the room. Also, it might have been possible to clean the bathroom better and replace the bath mat after previous guests. No breakfast available. Disappointing, since there are no normal options in the vicinity.

−I didn't enjoy having to share my bathroom with the pub patrons, because, well, cleanliness. The ski storage room (not heated) is tiny which would be fine if it was better set up, but due to user error it's a bit of an s fight. I'm not sure why the pick up for the shuttle bus to the ski hill is organized for 15 minutes after the lifts have already opened.

+Nat and the staff were friendly and really helpful. We stayed in the quad share Japanese Tatami room and it was clean, comfortable and enough room for the 4 of us. The futons were comfortable to sleep on. It had a beautiful view out the window of the trees and snow. The shared bathroom was very clean and functional. The location is great being only a few minutes drive to Appi Kogen ski resort and the onsen. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to others!

+Nice location and building Bar was nice.
−No fridge or microwave in the room ( standard in Japan). Bar guests use the same shared toilet as the hotel guests.... Not ideal.

−First time they dont ask for my passport at check in. The floor is quite dirty. There is a bar on the top so drunk kids go up and down all the time on a busy night. They only give 1 towel and charge 300¥ for an extra one. The bed, which I made myself, had 1 sheet and the blanket cover has a huge hole in it which makes it not really sanitary. The staff is not Japanese and you hardly see them, nobdoy checks who comes and goes.
