8.0“Comfortable stay for 4 adults after a day out exploring Bath!”
+The location was fab. The house was spacious and comfortable. It has so much character and was perfect for our group for 1 night. I admit I did worry about some of the reviews regarding cleanliness but we found the house, towels and linen to be clean. There were a few cob webs but this is to be expected in such an old house at this time of year. None appeared to be old or dusty. We honestly had a lovely stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
−Nothing major. The corner sofa in the living room was great, really comfortable, but there wasn’t enough seating for 4 adults. We had to bring in a dining chair. There was also a slight issue with the heating and hot water. The heating programme was set very high so by morning the house was too warm. And although there was hot water when we first arrived there was none in the morning. Cold showers were a bit bracing! But the host was responsive and very apologetic - these things happen! It doesn’t put us off staying again.

7.0“Good value for money, but don’t expect mod cons, this is an old building and its decor, smell and feel of the house refl”
+The features of the property and location for what we wanted.
−As much as we loved the features of this house almost every door frame is a different height, for a tall family that presented some occasional head bumps. The house was not as clean as we would have liked. The shelving unit had a film of dust across it. The carpets were not clean. We were unsure if the sheets on the bed were fresh as they were so crinkled they could have been on there for the last few visitors and wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference. The house is old and the furnishings/decor reflect this. However for an overnight stay at the price we paid, it was value for money.

10.0“Great stay, full of character! Will be returning!”
+Our host was lovely, nothing was too much trouble for her. We had a slight issue with wet towels, and she came straight to us with plenty more flesh and clean ones. The house was beautiful, old and full of character. Furniture was cosy and clean. Kitchen was in God keeping. The dishwasher was out of order at the time, so we had to wash by hand. The garden was excellent for our boys to run around and enjoy the trampoline that was also in the grounds. I love the drive way, nice and the main road was not loud at all. The beds were very comfortable, we were fortunate enough to have more foam and it is as electric to move the bed up and down! Toiletries were also provided and we had a fridge freezer very helpful when out and about with cool food.
−Nothing... Highly recommend. If you are staying some where like this, old and plenty of character naturally there are some spiders about but nothing is an issue!

9.0“Memorable , spacious and comfortable”
+The character , the space and convenient location. We were very surprised and it was a shame we didn’t have more time to enjoy the building
−Not so much didn’t like , but a bit of a modernisation keeping in with the character of the building wouldn’t go amiss . Generic Buddha pics on the wall wasn’t a good look

8.0“Nice big lodge and garden just 15 minutes walk into town.”
+Plenty of space and nice large garden. All the facilities you'd expect in a 4 bedroom lodge.
−The carpet in the lounge wasn't hoovered and there were areas where the rooms seemed unfinished eg electrical wiring exposed.

4.0“Lovely building but not a good stay”
+The character and location of the property was lovely with big well kept gardens and outside areas. The beds were all extremely comfortable
−When we arrived all the windows were wide open and the whole house was absolutely full of flies, not just small ones big meaty blue bottles which we couldn't get out for to the design of the windows/screens and protective coverings die to the age of the property. It made the house feel quite dirty. Once you managed to clear a room you were frightened to open the door again because they'd just fly back in from the hallway. Also there is no comfortable seating in the property. The lounge has two plastic type covered sofas which are small and extremely hard. There really wasn't anywhere to just sit and relax

8.0“Happy with our stay”
+Home with a lot of charm, lovely garden, clean and lots of bedrooms. Nice touches such as new curtains, fresh paint. The owner was very accommodating in providing us extra fans during a heat wave and is great at communicating.
−It was not possible to get much relief from the hot temperatures, so with summers getting hotter this home would benefit from A/C units in the bedrooms.

5.0“The house has great historic interest and lovely garden. Unfortunately the interior lets it down.”
+There was no breakfast apart from a few small cereal packets
−The whole place was tired and grubby. Carpets needed a good clean stains in lounge and bathroom around toilet ☹️ thick dust along the edges in bedrooms, knobs missing on wardrobes. Nails sticking out of walls where pictures have been. Kitchen radiator filled with dirt and stains. We cleaned out the utensil drawer before we could use it. Out of date crisps. 4th bedroom door wouldn’t open properly because bed too big. Downstairs bathroom skirting not finished wires hanging out of wall. Shower slippery no rubber shower mat. Lounge furniture needed throws as not that clean and recliner sticking out wouldn’t close. The worst thing is that the smoke alarms were not fit for purpose, old and yellow and not working, which is a safety hazard.
