“An OK place with cleanliness issues. And TRUTHFULNESS!”
+Sofia´s Place is a nice place for couple of nights in Heraklion area if you do not want to stay in a hotel. The house is located in an elevated position about 20 mins drive from city centre (but not secluded or very quiet as one may think). The pool and the outside area are really pleasant and barbeque area is perfect. Ample parking is also available. That is on positive site.
−The place was not really clean. The floors were filthy. Stains, long hair everywhere, clumps of dust under the bed. The kitchen itself could do with some deeper cleaning. Things thrown on each other, dishes not too clean, tea towels not provided, small ants everywhere. I understand the mess could have been left by previous visitors but it all should be checked and set right when preparing for next guests. There are cameras everywhere including pool area which on one hand adds to security feeling but on the other hand invades one´s privacy. So be aware of that! Beeping of security alarm every fifth minute or so does not add to comfort either (especially for light sleepers). I guess showers located in bedrooms were a construction must but the drain odour can sometimes be a bit too strong. Be informed the house is a wooden structure so is absolutelly burning during the summer heats. The following part is an update to my original review of Sofia´s Place above. Couple of days after placing my review the owner posted his reply. Unfortunately his reply does not correspond with reality and contains lies. Therefore I contacted Booking.com to consult this issue and was recommended to update

“A lovely house for a quiet and private vacation close to Heraklion”
+The house includes a pool, several outdoor seating areas, a barbecue area (which we didn't use, but it looks really well-equipped, including a hot tub and an outdoor refrigerator full of drinks), covered parking for two vehicles, a laundry room, and even facilities for children and an additional seating area. Inside the house is a spacious and pleasant living room, air conditioning in all rooms, fully equipped kitchen, sound system and view. The house itself is in a small and quiet settlement about 15 minutes away from Heraklion (it was simply excellent). We also reached beautiful beaches in the area and you can shop at Lidl which is nearby. Thanks to Alexis who received us when we arrived, and was available on WhatsApp.
−In the paved outdoor area in the area of the sunbeds there were a lot of ants on the floor, it should probably be sprayed or treated. It's clear that it's nature and open space, but surely there is a solution because it's a bit of a disturbance. The pool was pleasant and the water was clean, but from experience in other places, we are used to having someone come once every few days to take care of the pool (both to put disinfectants and to run a robot to clean the grounds) and here they didn't come even though the water was apparently clean (there was a little sand on the bottom in the corners, nothing that bothered)

+The house is beautiful and nicely decorated, has a lot of equipment (washing machine, air conditioner, TV, etc.) Excellent location, no direct neighbors. Alexis was very friendly and welcoming. My kids enjoyed the swimming pool a lot. I highly recommend Sofia's place!

“Ein perfekter Ort zum Entspannen aber ebenfalls guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge mit dem eigenen Auto.”
+Das Haus ist Teil eines privaten Grundstücks, stilvoll eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Für uns war es das perfekte Rundum-Paket zum Wohlfühlen: die erhöhte und ruhige Lage mit einem traumhaften Ausblick auf die Umgebung und zahlreiche Olivenbäume, der gepflegte Pool- und Gartenbereich, ausreichend unterschiedliche Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten im Schatten sowie die toll ausgestattete Außenküche und ein extra Basketball Korb. Der Pool wurde während unseres Aufenthalts regelmäßig angekündigt gereinigt und der Vermieter stand uns bei allen Fragen jederzeit zur Verfügung. In jedem Zimmer gab es eine Klimaanlage und an allen Fenstern Fenstergitter. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und als Überraschung erwartete uns bereits ein Kühlschrank voll mit Bier und Wasser so wie eine Flasche Wein und etwas Obst. Vielen lieben Dank!
