+We had a lovely stay at the Shepherd's Retreat. Communication was good prior to our arrival, with instructions. The house is really lovely, with everything you need and the hosts were responsive to queries. The lemon drizzle cake on arrival deserves a mention! It was very welcome with a cup of tea after a long journey. Plus other goodies left in the welcome pack. The local area and view from the house is beautiful and it's located very near to Hadrian's Wall, and is a very popular area for walkers.

+Most comfortable bed of any holiday accommodation we have ever used. Clean and comfortable; it was as if we were the first guests ever. The property was very well equipped. The owners are very organised with the booking process and property information.

+Stunning location, beautiful scenery, perfect for exploring Roman relics. They provide a Nespresso machine with pods and made us a lovely Easter cake, but not only that the hosts also left a Easter egg for our children. Super cute, thank you. The kids loved seeing the Chicken too, gave them all names and check to see they were all present and ok each day. Great selection of OS maps, books, games and DVD's too.
−Nothing really! Without being super picky and there's just no need. It truly is a lovely little cottage, very sturdy, coped easily with the 60+ mph winds we had one night during the storm.

“Excellent stay in a fantastic location”
+I would highly recommend staying at the Shepherd's Retreat. The owners were easy to communicate with, provided clear check in/out instructions and lots of information about the area. The cottage was really nice. Absolutely spotless when we arrived. The owners left a welcome basket with juice, wine, local chutney, milk and a homemade cake, which was so nice to have and a really nice touch. The beds are really comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic. There are lots of DVDs and boardgames too. Plus you can't beat the location, right on the line of the Wall!
−We were there during a particularly cold week (woke up to snow on several days!), and found the bedrooms a bit cold. It is an old building, so not unexpected. There are extra blankets and hot water bottles in the bedroom cupboards, so we were able to make it very cosy.

+Great collection of books and maps that made trips out so much better. Upon arrival there was a great welcome pack all very well thought through. Best night sleep for us all very comfy beds and my wife loved the soaps!
