7.0“Cute value accomodation with all the basics right”
+Comfy beds , dated but good quality cotton sheets and pillows , lovely garden , great views from pool terrace . Very clean. water and wine , tea ,coffee on arrival nice touch . Kitchen small but had what we needed for breakfast / lunch , ate out in the evening .
−sunloungers needed new cushion pads plus waterproof box to store them in at night, same for pool towels . Our outdoor table and chairs rather tired . Didn’t like the whole wall of blue tiles in the bedroom. Suggest stronger wall hooks to hang clothes

10.0“Very nice and beautiful place”
+Quintal do Castelo is very nice placed on top of Silves, next to the castle and church. The house and garden are tranquil and beautiful, with a small but nice pool
−The church bells are close by and rather loud in the evening, which can be a noise, if you travel with small children

10.0“Exceptional”
+A little piece of paradise in a historical town of Silves filled with charm and character! Once we tuned into our surroundings (regular bell rings from the neighbouring cathedral or ants patroling the kitchen worktops for sweet treats), our characterful yellow villa, the stunning surrounding garden with citrus trees and more, and the pool with a stunning view completely stole our hearts. This magical place is located a short walk away from Aldi, which meant we could have fresh bread for breakfast everyday and stock up for our hungry 4-year-old. Charming cafes and restaurants had good food options, excellent house wines and were well priced. We loved visiting the castle - the views are very impressive but be beware of limited handrails and open spaces if you have a young child. The published pictures don't give this place justice. You really have to be here to experience the Portuguese magic. Thank you Silves and Teresa for your hospitality. We will never forget it!
−There were minor things that aren't even worth mentioning ;)

5.0“Lovely place, needs fire safety makeover”
+The town is lovely and atmospheric. The house itself has a lot of character and the out door area is great fun
−There is no fire alarm nor fire extinguisher. It makes one wonder how other safety and maintenance measures, i.e. the pool.

9.0“A comfortable place with character in a great location.”
+Great location at the very top of the hill steps away from the castle. Superb view over the city and the river from the patio next to the swimming pool. Orange trees and flowers just outside the door. The suite called Casa Azul is on the lower level (probably the kitchen) of what would have been a seriously upscale mansion 100+ years ago. It's not large but it has been renovated in a way that preserves its character. The owner, who lives upstairs, was very friendly and helpful. An excellent restaurant, the Cafe Ingles, is also at the top of the hill about five minutes walk away. Great food and a great jazz trio on Sunday. Book ahead. There is free parking just off the street between Casa Azul and the castle. It can be pretty full and the ramp up is very steep (no visibility as you reach the crest). We explored the town on foot and got groceries from the supermarket near the river. Good for the quads.
