“Trip to usk”
+The cottage and surrounding
−The location is beautiful, with a very peaceful setting. The scenery is stunning; however, the cold inside the house, the rather old and uneven bed, the very worn-out bed linen, and the fact that only a summer-weight duvet was provided in October caused us some discomfort. We managed by using all the small blankets we could find in the house, buying firewood, and using the stove in the lounge to heat the cottage. Unfortunately, we weren't aware that the indoor temperature is only heated up to 16°C; it was only upon arrival that we received a message from the owner stating that a "welcome basket" of firewood was provided, and that any additional wood could be purchased from her grandfather next door for £10 per basket. This was a first for us, but we made the best of it and didn't let it spoil our holiday. The kitchen was very well-equipped and lovely, and the lounge was cozy with comfortable leather sofas,we had a pleasant stay. There isn't much to see in the immediate vicinity,it’s a quiet village with just a few shops,but you can find larger stores about 30 minutes away.

“Lovely quiet break in central spot for visits to Usk, Raglan, Brecon, Cardiff and Tintern Abbey.”
+Very quiet location with view over the countryside, 2 minutes from good roads to visit anywhere nearby and further afield. Property spacious and well equipped.
−Intermittent WIFI at times, not entirely a bad thing, but worth knowing. A wee note on the booster would have warned me not to switch it off… Sorry for the inconvenience of the phone call…

“A fabulous rural retreat!”
+A wonderful well thought out spacious property. The pictures don’t do it justice - we were blown away with the space inside. The accommodation has all you could need for an enjoyable stay. Outdoor space was great too with a lovely view - was ideal to sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet. If you want to get away from it all this would be an ideal property ( the owner lives to the left of the property but is unobtrusive ) but you can jump in the car and enjoy some more of Wales amazing scenery. The Hall Inn is under 10 minutes walk away where we enjoyed Sunday lunch. Would also recommend a visit to Morris of Usk garden centre - fabulous shop and cafe.

“Perfect place to relax and enjoy the countryside”
+Fabulous location, peaceful lovely view of the countryside. Very spacious, excellent kitchen facilities. Couldn’t actually fault it.
−Only one downside is the internet reception is not great. Maybe due to the hot summers additional fans.

“Lovely 🥰”
+The property was excellent. It is much bigger than in the pictures and has so much space. All the furnishings were well thought out, everything you’ll need and the bed is extremely comfortable. The view was stunning - just right for a nice glass wine! The owner was very welcoming.
−It’s not that we didn’t like it but it is important to note the owner lives in the bungalow right next door. When you are sat on the deck, they can see you and you can see them. It didn’t really bother us and he was absolutely lovely but I feel this is missed from the description. We may have chosen to stay somewhere else if we’d known as naturally you are a bit conscious of it.

“Book without any hesitation”
+The location is a beautiful part of rural Monmouthshire. Access from the main road is along a short section of a country lane which has very little traffic. The property is larger than we expected and finished in good quality fittings and fixtures. We were very comfortable. At night we sat out on the terrace and just listened to the birds as the sun set. There were lots of rabbits. The house is one of four properties but the other residents were very discrete. Parking was right outside the door. A huge bonus was the nearby country pub called the Hall, just a 10 minute stroll. The locals are very lucky to have such a facility on their doorstep (I hope they visit often!) We hardly ever cooked dinner as there are so many nearby places to eat but the kitchen has everything you need to make a meal. The shower was excellent. Megan and her family were very welcoming and helpful.
