“Very special place in the mountains above the Algarve”
+This place is perfect. The location and views are spectacular. The place itself is quiet and tranquil. It's perfect for a peaceful holiday. There are only three rooms, so only a few people there when fully booked. We had a pool view apartment, you can see it on the far right of the picture, but all the apartments are near the pool. The apartment is well equipped and set up. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hosts (Benedita & Marc) are extremely nice and ready to help with info on places to visit and eat. The drive there is quite straightforward, but you do need to follow the directions for the last couple of kilometres. The place is in the mountains so the roads are a bit windy, but fine. We went walking in the area for the first 4-5 days, which was amazing. We also visited the Atlantic coast (Monte Clerigo) for walking. The coastline is spectacular but challenging walking through fine deep sand on the coastal paths. But then it went very hot so we chillaxed after that and just visited Silves (with the castle) and Lagos. There's a big supermarket in Monchique, on the main roundabout. −Nothing. As an afterthought - people with reduced mobility should enquire about apartments with easy access. The steps to mine were a bit tricky.

“An idyllic place”
+This is an idyllic place. We had a wonderful time enjoying the scenery, the beautiful garden and just relaxing in the glorious sunshine. The apartment is so comfortable. The location is very convenient for sightseeing and walking. We loved the West Coast, which was a revelation to us. Thank you Benedita and Marc for creating this piece of heaven and for being such wonderful, fun hosts with great tips on restaurants and places to visit.

“Beautiful, idyllic, picturesque: three words to describe our stay at Pirilampo.”
+We loved the property! It’s such a beautiful setting - Benedita and Marc have really put so much thought into making the gardens just beautiful to look at every day. There is always something new to explore and look at - flowers, plants, shrubs, herbs! The rosemary and lavender make the place smell amazing. I loved that there were different places to sit and enjoy the surroundings - a hammock, a day bed, a bench, patio tables and chairs, etc. The pool area is clean and tidy and there are plenty of loungers and shade if needed. The pool is lovely and we liked how it looked out on the view. The accommodation itself had everything we needed - some self catering kitchenettes are a bit useless, but this one was great; it had everything we needed (on occasion, we had to think around how to cook something without an oven, but this wasn’t a problem - you have the induction hob and the microwave). There is an indoor table and chairs and a little sofa. The bathroom is clean and well presented, with a great big sink and a lovely rainforest shower (it washed my thick mane of hair quite easily). −I wouldn’t say I disliked it because I wanted to be in the middle of nowhere on this trip but make sure you plan extra time into your journeys to and from the property if you are not used to mountain roads (small, windy, steep, etc). Be prepared also that it gets cold in the mountains even when it’s been really hot all day. We (stupidly) didn’t consider this in our packing - make sure you take a hoodie and a pair of trousers in case that wind picks up! (Which it can do, you’re in the mountains, for crying out loud!) If you’re a light sleeper like me, you might benefit from earplugs if you sleep with the window open as the beautiful big palm trees outside get a bit noisy when the wind is up.
