“If only we could spend more time at Mortimer's Lodge”
+Mortimer's Lodge was incredible - well worth visiting. It was just what we were after; country charm, history and relaxation. The property was superb with a well-stocked wood heater, plenty of art/antiques, a sitting room, a new bathroom and comfy beds. We loved the location - within walking distance to Posh Plonk restaurant, the pub and main street. We appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine, food/ wine tasting vouchers and prompt communication with the hosts. They kindly offered to extend our check out time. The town of Chiltern also had much to see with antique stores, old fashioned bakeries/ diners and historic buildings. We will definitely be back and look forward to recommending this place to everyone we know.
−Noting the house was built some time ago, the high ceilings and lack of sunlight made it a bit chilly even with the wood heater. There were heaters in the bedrooms which helped us to keep warm. Though the one in the main bedroom was a bit noisy. We also struggled with the lights a bit, sometimes unable to find the switch. The floorboards would creak too if people needed to use the bathroom during the night. Overall though, these are minor things which are far outweighed by the numerous positives and arguably add to the Property's charm.

“Excellent property”
+We loved the cottage! Very comfortable beds and the decor suited the age of the cottage but the amenities were modern and very clean. The vouchers for the bakery, winery and diner were very appreciated. Google home operating the lights and heating was novel. Haven’t had that before. Congratulations to our hosts who have a wonderful property. Will definitely stay again.

+A lovely stay in a charming lodge. Lots of historical memorabilia and a step back in time. Especially loved the wine room! It was a bit cold to stay outside, but there was also an impressive outdoor setting too, complete with fairy lights and a fire place. The vouchers and wine were also a lovely welcome from the hosts.
−The only thing which could make this place better is a free standing claw bath - I think that would fit in perfectly :)

+A wonderful stay in a charming, historic cottage. Hosts were thoughtful, knowledgeable and communicative. Chiltern is a wonderful village to explore the delights of the region.

“Relaxing and comfortable”
+Very comfortable. The historical artefacts, books and pictures on the wall were very interesting. Had a great time looking through all of the information about the area. A great town and so nice to talk to the locals. A beautiful little market where picked up some goodies. Lots of space in the old house and enjoyed sitting on the front porch reading and relaxing.

“Beyond what I hoped.”
+The host went well beyond to fulfill a special request. The property was gorgeous with every amenity you could want. Outrageously good. Communication was outstanding. The support that the property amd the owners have for the local community is amazing. We will return.
−The bed was firm but that is a personal preference. It was a quality mattress with good pillows and covers just a little firm for us.

“Perfect place to unwind”
+What an amazing place! The house is beautiful; historic, like a museum (there is so much to see and read) but with all the modern amenities. Great shower room, good kitchen, lovely garden & veranda. The owners are the best - I have never met such awesome and helpful hosts! They live somewhere else, but the level of hospitality is amazing. And Chiltern was a lovely surprise! Cute little town with surprisingly good cafes/restaurants.

“Well kept historic building.”

−The pillows I think could have an upgrade. You had a choice of a rock hard pillow or a pillow that was so soft and flat it disappeared when you put your head on it, highly recommend taking your own if you were driving to this property . I also think the second bedroom has far too much clutter in it for the size of the room, this made it very difficult for my elderly parents to move around in. I think by decluttering this room and having the availability of plugs beside the bed to plug-in phones or whatever else is required would be a benefit.

“Charming, beautifully decorated house with antiques”
+Charming, beautifully decorated large house, antiques, a lot of provisions, comfortable bed. Great communication from owner.
−The enclosed fire was great in lounge and the AC in the bedrooms, but we felt cold in the house.
