“Underwhelming stay”

−We arrived with the welcome of an incorrect keycde, then we only had 2 rooms instead of 3, and were told we hadn't booked 3 rooms and when they realised we had booked 3 rooms were told the mishap was because we had booked 4 people and they thought we were 2 couples! We were further insulted by faeces in an unflushed toilet. Pipework in the bathroom was covered in dust and debris. The kitchen pans had food remnants in them There was muck behind the kitchen bin And despite all this there was a sign in the kitchen saying "please keep clean". The couch was dirty The chairs at the dining table were weak to the point of not wanting to sit on them incase they broke. The dining table was scratched and marked, there were table mats if you can call them that as some had holes in and they were filthy. The bannisters were sticky There were stains on carpets The mattresses and duvets were stained The mattresses were very uncomfortable, we could feel the springs and it became more and more uncomfortable to the point we could not sleep. “Great”
+the hosts were nice, we booked this stay last minute and they got back to us within a few minutes which was great since it was in the evening. the house is quite central in the town, so it was really easy to go out and about. the house was well cleaned and tidy, and they left a little pack of information with wifi and information. me and my friend got a double bed each, so it was a quick and comfy stay.

+It was in good location, near a festival we attended. Parking bit hit and miss as we had two cars, was not entirely clear that it was parking on street in busy residential area with no reserved spaces - sometimes had to park few streets away (issue for people with reduced mobility). Otherwise quiet area with shops near by (take aways, few small shops, large Tesco Extra 7 min drive away).
−Unfortunately there is rather a lot. The front door lock is faulty, it took us a few attempts and about 10 turns to lock it. When we came into the house kitchen and bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned - dirt, dust on floors, hairs in sink and bath, dead fly in toilet, crumbs around and underneath toaster. When we tried to ring host got message that number not available, when messaged got a reply 4 days later. We cleaned bathroom and kitchen ourselves, when trying to cook found dishes dirty, pans and pots covered in grease/oil including cutlery, so washed all that up too prior to use. We were booked as 4 adults and one child, yet only had 4 dining chairs and 4 towels. Reply to my message came 4 days into our stay. Bedding was fresh, mattresses however lumpy and uncomfortable. Only one room had a bedside lamp and some rooms had very few or no sockets. We were also surprised to find keypad locks on each door (making one wonder if it is student accommodation). A huge health and safety issue is the stair case: very steep and 3rd step from bottom up is falling apart, 2 people slipped and one fell coming down. Carpet in hallway also a tripping hazard. “A very uncomfortable 2 nights”
+Location was good for us
−Little or no comfort, very uncomfortable beds, no comfortable seating. Mattress very old and poor quality. Downstairs bathroom very inconvenient. Stairs very steep and third step from bottom feels like it’s broken. ONE bedside light between 4 bedrooms, not all bedrooms have curtains. Huge lack of electrical sockets

“Avoid. Dirty house, unfriendly host.”
+The location of the property was ideal for where we were working. Thats about all I can say was good and really, nothing to do with the property owners.
−I had to chase up the owner to send the key box/check in information on the day of arrival and the person I contacted was not paticularly friendly. When the staff arrived, the individual bedrooms were locked - this wasn't fully explained in the description. Upon entering one of the rooms, they found it hadn't been serviced and was filthy. They contacted the owner who gave them another code for a 4th bedroom but the code was incorrect and they eventually gave up and did there best to clean the room they could get in, themselves. The next day I contacted the owner but she didn't have time to speak to me on the phone and so communciation was via message. She argued with me that the rooms had been cleaned and she had "video evidence" to prove it and that she would send me this - this never arrived. A cleaner was eventually sent to service the rooms but after a lot of toing and froing between myself, the guys staying and the owner who wasn't very helpful and not paticularly understanding or friendly.
