+The house was easy to find and the location is good. We stayed for one night and arrived very late, but all was ready for us and the door opened with the code received. I really appreciated the flexibility of check-in, as we were doing a long road trip and experienced delays on the way. The cottage has everything one can think of, up to a bottle of milk in the fridge, and you can see that the owner had put some thought into what the travelers might need. It was a very short but pleasant stay.
−Nothing, really. The shower system was kind of basic but it worked ok. On the booking side, while I think the deposit is necessary, a contract for a one night stay is an overkill, if you ask me.

+We liked the peaceful aspect & view from the cottage. Being able to cook our own meal was great and the facilities were excellent. The blackout blind & very comfy bed allowed for a good night's sleep. Highly recommend!

+Well thought through and equipped, spotlessly clean. Cosy and relaxing. Convenient base for travelling around this part of Scotland. Equally good for stay-like-at-home and walks in the forest which is literary on the doorstep. Stunning view straight from your bed every morning you wake up and raise the curtains. Flawless check-in. Great host.

“Ruined our day.”

−DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. Martin asked us for a security deposit a few days before we arrived - after our payment for the property had been processed. I was unimpressed, as we had no alternatives for accommodation at that point and would have lost our deposit. There was no mention of this requirement in the booking that I could find. On arrival I expressed my disappointment in what I felt was deceptive behaviour. Martin clearly didn’t like this. After we departed we were stunned to receive a message that he had found a scratch which required him to keep our entire GBP 350 deposit. My son and I are adamant no scratch was made by us despite Martin sending us a photo showing a scratch we would certainly have seen before our departure. We believe this was pure vindictiveness on his part. We note previous glowing reviews. Martin will no doubt reply with something plausible, but this is the first review I have done on Booking.com and I have booked hundreds of stays through this site. I am fuming and will lodge a formal complaint.

+Perfect stay in Elgin. The cottage is everything you could wish for. Nice views and Martin is a very nice person and delivers a high quality standard. Parking next to the cottage with EV charger is a big bonus
