+The location is good and the home is well fitted to make the stay comfortable. Upstairs area is fresh, modern and quite lovely
−We were told the house is ready at 1h45pm, but arrived on time for check in at 2pm. Cleaner was there chatting with someone else in the house and doing ironing without regarding our arrival or privacy. She left around 2h45pm, after I said we’ve unpacked and would like to go somewhere and don’t feel ok to leave the house with our stuff there, while she is there. She was nice but not very helpful in explaining anything about the house so we needed to figure things out through trial and error. Refuse bags full of garbage from previous stay was left outside the bins for us to stare at. My husband placed them inside the bins. Despite very late exit by the cleaner upon check in, when asking for a 10h30 check out, the host said no. She could have offered us to wrap up while the cleaner arrived in the interim seeing as this wasn’t a problem on check in. While we were only staying 2 nights, she kept insisting prior to and upon arrival that the cleaner comes to clean each day which made us feel that she was wanting to check up on the house while we were there, which i found invasive. Windows have no sun block, so difficult to sleep in Downstairs area is dated and needs to be matched with ups

“Unpleasant stay”
−We stayed at De Visschur on 18th July 2025. Between 3-4am (19th) the premises was burgled.The panic button was pressed, and armed response 5 hours later. The host was contacted but did not reply until 3 hours later with her only concern for her door and security gate. We booked for 2 nights but departed at 09:36 (19th). Items stolen were covered by host's insurance and was paid 2 months later. The host refused to refund the 1-night stay of 19th.

“Comfortable cottage in Paternoster.”
+The house was really cute. It was in a good location - walking distance from the beach and Die Voorstrand restaurant (which is great!) The rooms were well appointed and nicely decorated. We missed having streaming services on the TV, but were hardly there so the DSTV was perfect. We never met the host, but she was quick to respond to text messages and the cleaning staff were also very helpful.
−I wasn't sure the alarm was necessary, but it made us feel unsafe that an alarm was required and yet our car couldn't be parked behind a locked gate or garage. I think a little "write up" about the facilities would be helpful - we needed to ask a few questions about the wifi, the braai facilities etc. So perhaps having a document on arrival it would answer a lot of the questions.

“Comfortable and peaceful, pet friendly stay”
+We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at De Visschuur. Louise was a warm host who was readily available to assist. The accommodation is in a central location - in walking distance to the beach as well as many restaurants and shops. The space is tasteful and very comfortable. Perfect for those with pets (lovely fenced garden).
