9.0“A great place which really added to our enjoyment at being in Durham.”
+Honestly, this is a perfect place if you are visiting Durham and the location is even better than one thinks. Durham is a very hilly city and location really matters. It's just a short stroll to the city centre over a medieval footbridge, but the unexpected plus for this house is that it's just a 2 minute stroll to the bus station. It's likely guests staying a few days will want to visit nearby locations which take 30-90 minutes by bus. The house is really great. Everything works well and there are sensible quantities of kitchenware and things you need like rubbish bags and dishwasher tablets. A good shower, a good TV and decent bed linen and towels.
−We couldn't open the front door lock upon arrival but phoned for help and they sent a nice friendly man. To be honest, it was probably just that we were very tired, though the door opens to the right rather than to the left as is more common. There wasn't really anything we didn't like.

10.0“Great house. Just like the photos”
+Really good location. Lovely property. Would stay again!
−Nothing wrong with the property itself. Just a fair bit of external noise from alarms/fire alarms in other houses going off. Windows aren’t thick so if you’re a light sleeper maybe take some ear buds. We also stayed during the summer heatwave, so fans in bedroom would have been nice.

9.0“Loved it and would recommend to anyone visiting Durham!”
+Overall, it was a terrific place to stay. Loved the location - just a block down to the heart of Durham's old city. House was very comfortable, light and bright! Loved the little back garden with seating.
−The front room was a bit loud on weekend nights but that's easy to remedy with earplugs. (would be nice for owners to provide) I would also say that the front bedroom upstairs could benefit from darker window coverings, but that was minor.

8.0“Lovely house please continue to look after it as it has been done to such a great spec but the practicalities need to wo”
+Completely love the house, beautifully done, fab location.
−The tv reception (watching six nations rugby) was intermittent to bad and the shower is poor pressure and the cradle doesn’t support the head so it is more of a hose than a shower. Also although the location is fab for town it does make for a very noisy night long into the wee small hours.

9.0“Superb”
+We were there for a Masters graduation ceremony. The location was excellent. The property was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. It did say that there was parking. This was very important as one family member was elderly. We asked specifically about the parking and were told that there were permits in the house. There were two covering a maximum of three hours each. We were there for four days!! We had two cars. Fortunately one of the cars has a disabled badge. We looked up the council website and found that we could park the car in a permit area using the badge. However we had to put the other car in the multi story car park. It was inconvenient and expensive. We feel that the 'parking' should be made clearer as to what it means as it was very misleading.
−Parking issue described above.

8.0“We loved our stay at cross gate. Owners were very responsive and when we needed to extend our stay by 1 night, they were”
+The location was excellent, with good clean decor. The layout worked well too. The issue with the location is the noise from the 2 pubs, which are very close by. This is not the fault of the property, and depends on management by the pubs… but noise until 2am was apparent on 3 of our nights.
−See above re noise - this was our only issue and may be attribution the time of year. Student grad week. A Nespresso machine would be a great addition and most properties feature this right now.

8.0“Gorgeous house”
+Spacious, very clean, great location. Fantastic decor, well equipped kitchen.
−Mattress is too soft for my liking, downstairs was quite cold. Whilst the range looks fab, not everyone knows how to use it.

−The heating could have been put on before our arrival as it was the coldest night of the year! Temperature in the house was 11 degrees!!! Took a while to heat up.
