+This is by far the most beautiful accommodation we have ever stayed in. The chalet has a stunning view and a picturesque Swiss style combined with modern equipment and comfort. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, and the owner made sure we had coffee, tea, wine, and even the ingredients for a simple pasta dinner on the day of arrival. That was a very thoughtful and much-appreciated welcome. Frank, the owner, responded quickly to questions and was extremely helpful throughout our stay.
−This accommodation is best suited for guests who are very fit and like physical exercise. The chalet is located above the village and requires about a 25 minute steep walk to reach it. There is no regular transportation available, except for an electric taxi which costs about €50 for a 7-minute ride. We were fortunate that our children are older, and that there was enough snow to access the slopes through the forest, which allowed us to ski back and forth. During the last two days of our stay the snow started to melt, which meant we had to walk the final 10 minutes back to the chalet instead of skiing. But, going to the village for groceries or restaurants can be quite demanding. After a day of skiing, carrying supplies back up to the chalet meant a 15 minute walk down and a 30 minute walk up. On the positive side, we certainly came back feeling fitter than ever! Another downside is that the bedroom contains a connected double bunk bed that we found quite uncomfortable and squeaky. The rain shower is fantastic, but I would strongly recommend that the owner install a curtain for the large window connecting the bathroom to the bedroom. “Very far from the village, outright unsafe access, failure of basic utilities such as hot water and “gaslighting” by own”
+We stayed here as a family (including a child) and would not book again. It was our fourth year in Saas-Fee and we’ve always had good experiences there until this year. In fact, if anything was available at the time on short notice (we were there during new years) - I would have paid double in order NOT to stay there. Getting there / finding it was a problem: On arrival there were no taxis available, and in the dark,carrying luggage (and ski gear),we couldn’t find the property as it on the outskirts and very high uphill. We ended up calling several times and exchanging photos just to locate it. That’s a bad start, but it got a lot worse. The access path to the property is outright dangerous in winter: The approach to the apartment was basically a vertical sheet ice, part of it a very steep incline followed by a path which was also covered in ice. This was genuinely hazardous,especially if you have a child, heavy bags, or ski equipment (we ticked all those boxes). A winter rental needs safe access. I ended up carrying 40 kilograms of luggage up the slope and falling several times before finally arriving to the appartement. I had hiking boots on. Our bag was totally destroyed as were

+Absolutely loved the picturesque location of the chalet, which has stunning views of the majestic mountains surrounding Saas-Fee. To reach this place there's a ten minute uphill hike on mountain trails, which can be a bit strenuous, but totally worth it. The exterior of the chalet is traditional, but inside comfort is at top level, with all the modern appliances needed, well appointed kitchen and stocked cabinets. Also very clean. The hosts organized everything perfectly for our arrival and always responded promptly.
−Not a big deal in an otherwise very well appointed kitchen, but we didn't find any pots and pans. Rented the hosts' ski locker for 100CHF/week. Locker is for 4 persons, we needed it for just one. Didn't know that downtown there are multiple shops that offer ski lockers / ski depots and in retrospective we could have gotten a better deal renting a smaller locker, so maybe that's something worth checking out beforehand.

“Magical location in Saas-Fee”
+We adored our time in the lower studio at Chalet Birkhahn. It may be small is size but it is very well designed and we didn’t feel too cramped. The walk to the chalet from the village took a slow 30mins with our 4 and 6 year old, but we didn’t mind as loved being out of the town and above everyone else! We’ve been in 5 airbnb’s so far and this was by far the most well equipped in terms of kitchen attire. Frank kindly left us a bottle of wine, fondue and a gift for my daughter who’s birthday it had just been. Very very unexpected and just shows you the length Frank goes to welcome all his guests. We hired his locker in town for $100chf for a 6 days which was super helpful so we didn’t have to lug our ski gear home each day. Just note that the time you tell Frank you will be arriving, he automatically has a taxi waiting to take you up to the studio. We didn’t realize and were caught out and didn’t have 45 chf on us to pay the taxi driver. We had the most magical week staying here and don’t have anything bad to say about the place. Thank you so much. A wonderful stay!!
