+Great location and really good bed, fireplace and heating. Bedroom has been updated since the photos with a decent sized shower instead of bath.
−A few arrival basics would be good for the price and the lights left on etc so its just a bit more welcoming. Dishwasher not working and seen old reviews saying the same, so naturally nothing was as clean as it could have been as evident the plates etc had just been hand cleaned - in a rush. Similarly the garden just needed a bit of TLC.

−The facilities were poor. The second bedroom was dangerous. The photos on the website did not really show this and when looking you would never expect a second bedroom like this . The settee was uncomfortable and needs replacing. The kitchen was not fit for purpose . The whole property felt dirty.

“With a little more care and attention this property could have been so much better…”
+The location was great. The could have been a fab little cottage…and some aspects were pleasant.
−As it was Christmas Eve when we arrived…it would have been a nice gesture to leave some fuel and maybe some sort of welcoming ‘Goodwill’ gesture… I did receive a message about fuel for the log burner …the day before our arrival, which should have been sent earlier, recommending we order a fuel pack. Luckily the local shop was still open and we managed to get a starter pack. For the amount of money paid I would have expected at least one pack to be included. The living room was freezing, and the radiator was stone cold. It was situated behind a massive corner sofa so we couldn’t really see to adjust the valve. We did manage to get it to work but it was intermittent. Once we did get the fire going, it was a cosy room. Also, we were disappointed with some aspects of cleanliness, especially as there was a £65 cleaning charge! The bathroom cupboard was grubby, there was a clump of hairs around the bedroom radiator when I bent down to alter the valve. The ‘White’ towels were a pale shade of grey…and smelled fusty. The toilet seat was loose and not fitted properly, which my husband rectified. Also, the kitchen taps were loose… It was a real shame as this could and should have been such a

+Amazing cottage in a fantastic location right in the heart of Castleton whilst being so peaceful. Everything you could want, lovely fireplace and comfy lounge, with all the facilities and also dog friendly. The lovely host even packed and posted my mac book which I mistakenly left. So kind and would 1000% recommend to anyone looking for a fab stay in the Peak District.

“Perfect”
+Great great location, lovely decor and very cosy. Shower was good, main bedroom decent size. So close to town and pubs, plus a great walk literally on your doorstep. Castleton is lovely.
−Low ceilings bumped my head a few times - it’s a very old cottage just be aware of it.

+Location Nicely decorated Quirky TVs were brilliant, all stations and easy to use.
−1st : 2nd bedroom wasn't a bedroom, mattress located on a shelf, not much clearance, accessed by a blanket chest, wete both in our 70's so no chance. 2nd : living room very cold, had to have heating on, in August ? Corner sofa unit felt damp and was grubby. 3rd : Shower faulty, took ages to regulate to a reasonable temperature. 4th : Garden/outside spaceca mess, needs attention, steps very dangerous. I'd hope we could get some money back for all the points made above, definately overpriced.

+Remember that it is a very old cottage and get things in perspective. Convenient location, easy to get to main local attractions. Well furnished and decorated. Beds comfortable. Private car parking. Near to excellent eating places.
−As an older person the low ceilings and multiple floor levels were a bit challenging, our 11 year old grandson had no problems. He also enjoyed the quirky 2nd bedroom, (not so good for adults).
