9.0+The house is very nice, near the ocean, but without view, near the hous there are many old houses. The house is very authentic, old celing and stone walls. But it was very noisy, the floor was creaking. We were 6 and it was not very comfortable.
−We recomend to add the locker in the bathroom and add some hooks. It will be better to have some worm blanlket in Winter time.

8.0“A cosy apartment chilling place next to the ocean”
+This apartment is located in the last village, almost in the end of Maderia Island. Perfect place for families, sunset lovers, and those who looking for calm, easygoing accommodation. Better if you have car.
−Nothing like this, pubs are available close to this apartment. The rooftop has a "view" of the ocean, but not a full landscape. The washing machine was a bit old and rusty, so we would like to wash but in the end we did not try.

8.0“Great quiet location to decompress, nice little house but no real outside space.”
+The home was easy to find and enter, the location close to the sea was lovely, quiet location. the house has everything you need. though the house would have been perfect for just my husband and I or possibly with younger children.
−I was expecting some sort of garden, but the BBQ was actually in the walk lane between houses. also in the adverted pictures show a beach ( but that one is 14 minutes drive away and you have to pay for parking), there is actually only a concrete jetty to the sea that can be difficult to get in or out of the sea the rest of the coast is large stone bolders. Also bedroom 3 is only a walk through area at the top of the stairs, no privacy.

6.0“Insects everywhere”
+The house is nice and big. The terrace is a plus.
−The house was completely full of any kind of insect, starting from mosquitos and ants invasion (especially in the kitchen that was very annoying because they were everywhere: pans, trays, plates and silverware). Then cockroach, grasshopper, worms. We spent lot of time spraying and finding creative ways to keep them outside. It's a pity because the house is beautiful but it was so bad not to feel safe and relaxed at home! The owner just provided the anti mosquito plug. But I think the house need some pest controls (and mosquitos net on EVERY window would be appreciated)

+This is a nice old house at the remote end of the island. I liked it a lot even if we had to travel more to see the rest of the island. The nearby bar seems to be a cult meeting point to drink and see the sun sinking to the ocean. We did not meet our host but there was no need. I am sure he would have attended us if needed.

9.0“Nice house in fishing village, car recommended :-)”
+We loved living in this house, its built from stone and lots of beautiful red wood inside. Our kids loved it. It has like 2 floors up, well equipped kitchen. Nice terrace upstairs. It is in quiet location, like 50m from sea, you can watch surfers often :-) Good wifi for homeoffice work, in all floors. Free parking on beach street. Nearest bar like 100m, it has the surfers vibe and beer on tap. Next restaurant like 7min walk. We did not meet in person with owner, but we did not mind, everything was well organized and explained. THE HILLS - the access is from steep hills and view sea vs. hills just fascinating.
−The long beach itself is pebbles, no sand and mostly with waves good for surfers but not swimming, at least in November - this we knew. There is tiny beach in front of the bar around corner. Next beach is 15 min walk towards village centre, the calmest spot was behind small port, access is through gate to shipyard that was open, and small walk where birds sit on pebbles. This place totally shielded and water nice and clean - there is not many ships in Paul do Mar :-) You really should have car to get in and from Paul do Mar, buses are very infrequent and you would lose precious time commuting-connecting. With car its breeze and you have access to other beaches even sandy ones, esp. if you have kids.

9.0“top!”
+very cosy! our kids named this house the Harry Potter house!! clean. right next to the beach!!! lovely bar on walking distance. quite neighborhood, which is perfect for families. Because staying on the West side of the island we got to see many things we wouldn’t see if staying on the east side.
−unfortunately when we came, the tunnel was being renovated, which resulted taking daily the road up the mountain and back down. 20 min. the road is very beautiful tho!!!! But if you are not fan of cliffroads, contact the manager and ask if the nearby tunnel at Paul do Mar is fully open.
