“Was ok for an overnight stop, full deep clean needed owners informed. This place could be exceptional”
+Quaint and quirky, lots of space and warm. Comfy beds and bath in the main bedroom was a pleasure
−A little out of Bakewell, definitely needed a car to go out for evening meal. The whole place needs a deep clean cobwebs everywhere and lots of dust

“Set in a beautiful location the Chapel is great base if you like walking”
+Quirky property in a beautiful village with good walks. Food at the Red Lion was exceptional.
−Advertised as a three Bathroom property. It is not. There are only two toilets. One shower and a highly impractical bath. We would not have made the booking if it had been made clear there are not 3 FULL bathrooms. I contacted the owner who had sent us a lovely welcome message to let him know that one of the duvet covers appeared to have mould marks on it. He replied to say ‘He would look into it’, nothing was done to rectify the issue whilst we were there. The property is in need of a deep clean. When the shower in the family bathroom was used water was dripping through the lounge ceiling. The window in the family bathroom is broken so there is no ventilation. This property COULD be something very special. Unfortunately the lack of cleaning and correct listing brings it down. Such a shame.

“Homely 'quirky' property”
+We loved our stay in Birchover Chapel. It was ideal for our family group of 4 adults & 2 children, with more family members camping just up the road at Barn Farm. We found it to be comfortable & homely with a well equipped kitchen and certain 'quirkiness'.
−We were happy with hotchpotch of towels that may be a bit worn but if you're looking for a spick & span property with white fluffy towels & 'perfection' this isn't the place for you. We liked the curtained off free standing bath that is the ensuite (as did our grandkids!) Would be nice if the taps in the sink in there were secure & both worked! The keysafe was difficult to use and door not very easy to open

+It is a beautifully renovated property , very unique
−No complaints - the only slight problem was both pubs were closed so we had to drive to the nearest town to buy food for supper .Had we known we would have brought food with us .But this was not the hosts fault.

“Enjoyable Stay in a Beautiful Location”
+Location was good close to places of interest and in a lovely village Chapel was ideal space for a large party to holiday together . Comfortable lounge , Large screen Tv Comfortable beds Dishwasher was brand new and the previous issue was addressed for our stay. Good communication from caretaker
−Property needed a proper clean. Lots of dust and cobwebs everywhere. The kitchen cupboards were dated and needed repairing in some areas Taps in bedroom were loose and didn’t work at all These were disappointing issues which can be easily be addressed .

“Dirty”

−Filthy grime in the oven fridge freezer was filthy good on the sides smelly towels! The whole place was dirty really unsatisfying

“I am happy that it was only for a day otherwise it would have been very difficult to stay longer .”

−The living room / dining room was smelly. There was a stench in the room of stale air . The sofas and the cushions were also smelly. Everywhere there were cobwebs and spiders. The dish washer was broken . The fridge had a strange odour. The bedlinen was clean and the kitchen ware was clean .

+A building with lots of character & very comfortable rooms. Short driving distance from Bakewell. Celebrated my nirthday there with my husband and friends, the kitchen was very spacious well equipped to cook a proper meal.
−Rooms weren't cleaned properly - cobwebs hanging from the windows and ceilings. Bedding was definitely not washed and smelled of someone else's body odour.

“Girl's weekend away for a Christmas treat. 😁🎄”
+Location is ideal. Tranquil and restful. Cottage is spacious but still cosy. Well equipped with everything you would have at home. Friendly pub a few minutes walk away and quiet village.
−Could do with a few blankets for those of us that feel the cold. Perhaps a Christmas tree or some decorations as a nod to the season. Perfect though.
