+Exceptional little cottage in the middle of nowhere, peaceful and quiet, perfect if you want to get away from everything for a little while. The cottage had all we needed and more. A welcome basket with coffee, marmalades, cookies was a very lovely surprise, also the fresh eggs and some firewood to get you started. A small, somewhat hidden path leads from the house to a stony beach - it it truly a dream and we would definitely love to come back here someday.
−This was not a negative point for us because we wanted peace and quiet, but before you book, be aware that getting anywhere takes a while with a car on very narrow roads. Definitwly do your shopping ahead of time - the fridge is very spacious and there is a freezer if you need it.

“An absolute hidden gem”
+We thought the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Excellent communication from the owner and Tracy the housekeeper was an absolute delight. We loved the open fire and the beautiful views from this cottage. The incredible history wonderfully chronicled by the owners father was a joy to read about locally at Ravenspoint. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was the best stocked we have ever stayed at. The fact that i managed to pack one of the cottage tea towels in our luggage was not deliberate and i will post it back! Thank you for a wonderful week on behalf of Owen, Elizabeth and our Irish setter Olive 😊

“A cottage off the beaten track in a slice of paradise.”
+Loved the remoteness and location on the hill overlooking the loch and out to sea. Tracy the cleaner is very local and a true Gem! She was very helpful & patient with us clueless Aussies. The owner is quick to respond and amenable to any concerns. The cottage is fully equipped with everything & more that you could need. The bed is exceptionally comfortable and if you are a Macleod, a real treat! The welcome pack is generous, varied and included delicious local eggs. It is peaceful & quiet. Lots of wildlife and sheep. The road in is in good repair. Whilst the weather was unseasonally freezing & sleeting during our week, it didn't prevent us from exploring the Isle of Harris & Lewis from Rodel to The Butt! We loved seeing the snow on the mountains. The Kinloch Historical Society & museum at Balallan was brilliant and very helpful with our genealogy enquiries.

+Lovely location and homely feel. If you like the seclusion it is the best place only a 45 min drive to Stornoway for essentials with lovely scenery.

“A very pleasant stay and we would certainly return to Lewis and Harris.”
+We were self catering. The cottage was well presented - clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood.
−The location was rather isolated and quite some distance from the main N-S highway in Lewis. This did mean that you had to do quite a bit of driving to get to other locations in the Islands.

+A well equipped cottage, welcome pack provided. Scenic location, peaceful and quiet. Good internet made up for the lack of phone signal. Warm and comfortable even when the weather outside wet and windy. Comfortable beds.
